Reddit or not to Reddit? That is the question!

Will do man![DOUBLEPOST=1452745099,1452745051][/DOUBLEPOST]
I'm sorry can you explain that differently I'm not following?
Well, if you post your videos in a community which isn't interested in watching you videos and they just open your video, watch it for only 10 seconds and leave, then it gives you very bad watch time and signals youtube, that maybe your video isn't what they expecting. So it's better to analyse where you put your content so you get only those 'interested views' with good watch time.

yes that that is actually helpful thank you I'm glad i asked you to explain it more

I used Reddit but I'm not a big fan as I AM actually following the rules but my content is not really appreciated it seems.

Yeah, I'm about ti give up on reddit as far as posting video links (even rarely). Just not worth it anymore. I still use reddit sometimes to actually discuss stuff though, so I guess if there's ever and offhand reason to mention that I have a channel I may do it.

But trying to link a video once every 2 weeks or something? Nah, screw that. I'm done.

haha yea i see. But it is a comunity

I've posted two videos to reddit.

They where heavily edited videos showcasing something special about the game (a hacker invading me in dark souls 2 / my friend and I playing Cho'gall for the first time). Went really well and people liked my videos. Even got a subscriber or two.

The key to reddit is understanding that nobody gives a s**t about your channel, or your video - you've got to give them content that they're actually interested in. Get involved with the community in a sub-reddit before you post videos there.

Reddit typically isn't the best way to advertise gaming videos. The communities are too big - you won't have a single redditor who cares about your uploads in particular. Building "trust" within a subreddit with participating in discussions means nothing - nobody will remember you, because they're probably clicking on hundreds of links an hour.

For newer Youtubers, it's even worse. Redditors will purposely dislike all your videos if you post something they don't like, because 75% of the time, they're just plain mean. I have never seen such a negative community of people. That doesn't mean there aren't nice people on reddit, it's just that people who sort by "new" on a subreddit typically are very judgemental (or, they're downvoting your post to look their post look better. Happens all the time).

I consider myself EXTREMELY lucky. I can attribute a large part of my success to reddit. (Not that I'm a big youtuber, but reddit brings in those views). I found a community that had 100,000+ subscribers but very few posts a day (it's a very niche genre of videos with very few content creators). I got lucky. For a genre so crowded, like gaming, I'm sorry, but reddit just won't work.
