PewDiePie Has Turned Off Comments FOREVER!

Yeah I can understand why he did that, All of the spam and self promotion, and "hey can you check out my channel" gets really annoying after a while. Atlease his reason for turning off comments is actually legit vs the people that turn it off because they don't want someone to disagree with them.

Just got a great idea!!!!
YouTube should make an option where the links are not allowed and the name of the commenter cant be clicked?
So that nobody shall be able to Say check out my channel?
How about that?

Well the biggest problem I see here is that he has 30 MILLION subs and he just could react to a handful of people and the rest wouldn't get any attention. This eventually lead to frustrated/trolling/hating/spamming/whatever commenters and I think I would do it exactly the same if I was in his position...even though he didn't completely silence his viewers due to the fact that he said that he will give twitter and reddit more attention.

So I think it's okay and I guess eventually I would have done the same thing...

I can definitely see why he has done it but it will be a shame because i have a good time sometimes reading what some people put lol

Totally understandable. He's not the first YouTuber who has complained about the YouTube's comment system. Many comments that make it to the top are negative ones, because they get the most attention. I'm sure they were really getting to Pewdiepie's head, and I respect his decision. Whatever makes you happy! :)

This has nothing to do with links, most links are filtered out anyways. Channel promotion does not require someone to link their channel in a comment considering their avatar/name is a link to their channel anyways. I think the biggest problem is that Pewds gets so many comments per day, spread out among the hundreds of videos he has, that the filter can't keep up. For me, people who promote their channel on mine, normally get moved to the spam section and this was even before I added anything to the filter, so Google's filter is surprisingly good at picking up things it knows we may not way, but it's still flawed. Whenever I scroll down on bigger channels like SeaNanners or Pewds now, all I see is channel promotion, hate or absolute nonsense irrelevant to the video. For every good comment he gets there's about 10-20 bad 1s you need to go through.

The spammers on his channel are out of control. I once wrote a comment on one of PewdiePies videos and within minutes, I received about 5 PMs from people spamming their gaming channels all saying something along the lines of "I see you like PewdiePies videos, so I thought I'd send you a link to my channel. It would mean so much to me if you'd check me out and watch a few videos....." JUST STOP!

Thats what i was saying......................The Avatar/name should be un-clickable! :D

But still, even if that were to happen to happen, those spammers would still make his comments section miserable!

Till, YouTube finds a way out of this, i guess Pewd will have to disable comments
Although I think comments should not be disabled
But still, Desperate Circumstances call for Desperate measures :D

BTW, this thread should have poll......:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

I got that a few times on SeaNanners channel, although it happens less now since my comments generally get lost among the others. Maybe it's for the best xD[DOUBLEPOST=1409930786,1409930373][/DOUBLEPOST]

Oh I must have read the original comment wrong then. I don't think comments should be disabled either. But in his case it's very understandable. Honestly I'd hate to have that many people viewing my stuff and commenting, it'd just get too out of hand and eventually something you enjoy and made successful could eventually make your day worse. It's why I think YouTube should add the option to turn on and off subbing so that you could take the time to get rid of the bad weeds and then open it up again to the public. It wouldn't be ideal for some people but for others who want to build a genuine community it'd help and it's a better option than paid subscriptions so your current subs can still view your work without paying. Sort of similar to how Demonoid used to do things, they would open up memberships for a while, then they would stop allowing people to join the site.
