Losing My Motivation

if youve only gotten 15 subscribers since last year id recommend completely re-evaluating your channel.check the quality of your content. how often are you uploading? are you staying on subject in your videos. id suggest checking out some bigger channels and compare yours to theirs. Note things their channel has or is doing. and LAST OF ALL KEEP UPLOADING. If you stop uploading theres a 100% chance your channel will fail.

I've asked many people for thoughts on my channel. Some people I know, some people I don't know and even people on here, in the reviews section.

Honestly they've only ever had nice things to say which is why it's so confusing as to why I'm not growing at all.

(Also uploading once a week on a Sunday, so I don't think that's the problem)

Hey, that's amazing! Even if it doesn't feel like it right now, you'll soon be able to look back and be proud of yourself for sticking to something you enjoy, even during the hardest times. That's a great achievement.

You're right! Thank you :)

I just always think of how life is ending suuuuppppperrrr duuupppppeeerrr soon and how it just seems like yesterday that I was graduating from high school and now it's today. And before you know it it'll be the day when I'm on my death bd and I don't want to die knowing I didn't try my absolute best in doing what it is that I know in my heart that I love. Even though at times it seems like it is making no headway. I just feel that this is what is right. Keep on trying your best man and the results will come. The time when we are closest to succeeding is right when we are about to quit. Not quitting and sticking it out is what makes you a champion :)

That's really inspiring! Thanks man. Appreciate it!

I saw something on a tumblr (but it said they got it from a Nerd Fitness article...who said they got it from imgur...so who knows that the original source is)...maybe this might be a little delicate for your ears, so I will edit a few key words so that it's more G-rated:

F[orget] motivation. it’s a fickle and and unreliable little [compound word combining a term for a certain part of the male anatomy with an adult language verb for copulation] and isn’t worth your time.

Better to cultivate discipline than to rely on motivation. force yourself to do things. force yourself to get up out of bed and practice. Force yourself to work. Motivation is fleeting and it’s easy to rely on because it requires no concentrated effort to get. Motivation comes to you, and you don’t have to chase after it.

Discipline is reliable, motivation is fleeting. The question isn’t how to keep yourself motivated. It’s how to train yourself to work without it.

That being said, you ultimately get to decide. YouTube generally isn't your job (which is probably the biggest area where you have to have discipline, regardless of how motivated you are). If you really ever feel that it's not a healthy place for you, please think about taking a break, regrouping your thoughts, etc.,

yeah tumblr has some really inspiring stuff id definitely have to agree with that ive been working all building discipline this entire year because the average person doesnt have it. Motivation comes and goes but discipline is constant. It cannot be broken.

I hear you. Sometimes, it can feel like more of a chore than fun to make videos. It could be that you're not feeling creatively inspired, so maybe give yourself some challenges, content-wise. Try to do something completely outside of your comfort zone, and don't think about viewers or subscribers. Think about what you have always wanted to see on YouTube and try to make that. Maybe go somewhere and film it, without any real story in mind, or try stand up with the camera on.

We sometimes have to shake up the routine to get the motivation back. Sometimes it just takes grinding through the unmotivated times, as well.

Thanks man! I'll definitely try and do that :)

Dude don't lose heart I know the same feeling. I am struggling cause I don't have that much of a community so I can't find anyone to talk to about my videos. I have some guys come by my channel and say that my videos are pretty good which really encourages me alot. However, I just continue to upload video cause guess what the day we hit our stride there is no looking back sooner or later people are going to find out who you are and when they do be ready to work like never before continue to improve your craft.

Another thing I love about Ytalk is that you can leave the comfort of your cubicle of making movies and videos to chill by the water cooler and be loss in everyone's exciting conversations and talk about how you feel.

Don't lose hope dude just keep going!!!

Edit[I thought you had 15 subs but I reread what you said and you said you gained 15 subs since October]

Hey everyone I would like to start this off by saying thank you so much for coming by and looking at my post it means a lot. So the question is "How do I stay motivated on YouTube", now some of you may say you only have blah blah subs.. then well you do not have to continue reading that is your decision. But anyways I am a 15 going onto 16 year old kid in high school that loves gaming and entertaining people, and like any other kid even some older men or women come to that moment where they are like do I enjoy doing this anymore does not even have to do with YouTube in general I am sure some of us have gone through it. This is how i stayed motivated at first I will admit i watched some motivational videos on YouTube and it kinda helped and it might for you so you can try that but i recommend you keep reading before going. Me being only 15 I have a lot of dreams that are not very realistic which is not a bad thing unless you make it a bad thing. Right now my dream/goal is to do what i really like which is gaming XD and while doing it have fun and have a successful YouTube channel and to entertain maybe millions of people everyday, and i think everyone here can say wow dude keep dreaming you are not getting anywhere, and that is exactly why I am still going. People are going to tell you you are dreaming you can not do that and that is going to start and make you feel like you really can not do it but if you really want to do that you have to realize there will be haters there will be people that do not want you to get to where you want to be, and then there is the question why should I everyone is saying I can not do it so I will just give up, but that means they won they got what they wanted and if they can get what they want why cant you. So do not give up maybe set smaller goals 10 subscribers, 50 subscribers, 100 subscribers, 1,000 subscribers, and eventually as long as you keep at it you can do anything do you think these other YouTubers that have millions on millions of subscribers just started with millions of course not they had the mind set that they can do anything they put their mind too and that is what i want to see from everyone that reads this and chooses it is their time to shine its their time to do what they love and have fun doing it and make people smile and life maybe teach a few people on the way, maybe even save the life of a depressed kid, because you know what... you can do anythinggg you put your mind to.
