If Youtube didn't have a view counter and couldn't make you money wuld you still make videos for it?

i think i still would, just not as with the same enthusiasm since i dont know how well my videos are doing and or if i should be uploading something different. (if i upload a video i tend to use the view counter to see how well it does and if is something people are interested in)

But I wouldn't even be basing my views on my comments trying to figure it out. Doesn't matter to me, as long as I have a little group of people discussing it, and I know that new faces are showing up from time to time, size is irrelevant. I will get a reaction to each video I put out from multiple people, and that's all that matters. However, I think you are correct in saying it would suck some of the drive away. For me this wouldn't be because it'd be less rewarding, but simply because there's really nothing to accomplish in that case. It's more just like, sharing than "growing an audience" that would probably lighten the "drive to improve"[DOUBLEPOST=1353600005,1353598285][/DOUBLEPOST]Another thing I just thought of, if you were just seeing new faces comment as your videos were going, but had no way to count the views, wouldn't be alot of need to do "trending topics" now would there? hehehehe
guess not lol

I still would. I've been making music for almost 20 years without any real acknowledgement only because I truly enjoy it, and now that i do videos, it's become my favourite passion/pastime so yeah i'd do it regardless.

What money? Most people are only making ashtray change from their partnership, and all it does is build resentment from your audience who have to put up with ads plastered all over your videos. Not having a view count would be a bummer, but you could work around it. You could judge from the number of comments how popular your video is, and you could search Google to see if your videos have been embedded on forums, etc.

Not having comments sucks though. Other video hosting websites have great interfaces, but a horrible comment system. They just look like a ghost town and it discourages you from uploading any more videos to their site.

The other side of it is that there are many very popular YouTubers who hardly ever upload new videos. They've got 50,000+ subscribers, but even that is not enough to keep them motivated. I guess once you hit the goal of having a large audience, it no longer becomes a motivating factor. It would have to come back to making content for content's sake.

I probably would. First time i posted video on youtube I didn't even know that I can make money out of it. And when that video suddenly got million of views i started to post more videos.

I like knowing how many people hear what I'm saying, so if not, probably no, because I'd go crazy with curiosity. I think the big thing with views is other people seeing it, and appreciating you for it. It's a bragging matter. If it was like blip.tv where the content creator can see the view counts, but nobody else can, I'd still do it. As for the money, yes, that would be fine too. I still haven't gotten a payment from TGN since I joined them in August so it'd be about the same! >: O

If cant see how many views I get, properly not since I don't know if anyone watching them.

If cant get money I still do it because I don't get money from my videos now and not even doing it to try get money

If I could not monetize my views via advertising it would not bother me.

If I could not monetize any of my content in any way, and could not engage with my audience.. There's no chance, I know I would lose interest.
