Then just tell him he's immature, at least to me it sounds like he is if he is like that, since a mature person would at least listen to what you have to say. To me it just sounds like you have to proof people that they are wrong, and you do that by doing what you wanna do and succeeding in it, whatever obstacle comes on your path.
