How Important are Channel Trailers?

To be honest, I don't think I've ever watched a channel trailer on any channel I've visited.
When I find a new channel I go straight to the videos or playlist taps personally...I did just make one, as I do think it looks more professional in a way.

Personally, I think channel trailers are very important and can pay off big time.

From my experience, if someone's trailer is too long, I end up clicking away pretty quickly. The key is to catch a new visitors attention right away and make them interested in what you might have to offer. I'm quite new to producing content, and got inspired to make my own trailer the other night. It's been up for 5 days now and I've gotten around 10 new subs? To be fair, I've uploaded another video since, but I really do believe it will pay off over time. If this trailer of mine draws in even 100 new subscribers before I plan for my content to really take off later this year with my traveling, that will be SO huge!

So, in my opinion, I think a channel trailer is a GREAT idea and you should choose sooner rather than later.

I think there really useful to summarize a channel, cant wait to make one once i have enough content to make one

I think channel trailers can be useful. When you find a new channel might want to find out what the channel is about and a channel trailer can quickly provide that to the viewer. They make your channel look more professional in my opinion. The trailer shouldn't be too long maybe 1 to 2 minutes.

Thanks for all the advice guys, much appreciated :) I can't wait to make one for my channel, bit I'm gonna keep it really short and snappy.

I personally made one, more because I wanted to than anything else, I enjoy making videos and thought it would be fun and it was and I'm kinda proud of it. I wouldn't say that it's made any noticeable difference to my channel, I don't feel like its a reason for getting any more subscribers or views. I would also add that I'm actually friends with a YouTuber who has just reached 60K subscribers and he doesn't have a channel trailer so I would probably argue that its not important. However if you want to make one then by all means go ahead and have fun. :)

From my personal experience of browsing other people's videos, they aren't of that great of an importance. I usually pause the 'channel trailer' video so I don't have it playing in the background while I look at their other videos but maybe that's just me. Sometimes though if they have video from their channel on there that is popular I may even watch it. If you do have a real flashy and quickly edited channel trailer though, I imagine that could pay off as it would be very captivating and flashy and reel people in

We used our trailer as an excuse to write a new mini-parody, just for use in the trailer. Made it sort of a fast-paced "highlight clips from the channel" adventure. And it's only like a minute long, including the outro slate at the end. Woo! :D
