hey guys tell me about your filming routines

I'm so bad, because I always film and edit the day before or the day of. I really need to give myself some breathing room, especially on weeknights. Monday and Wednesday after work, I run home, set up the lights and camera, record my videos, then edit them right afterward and upload them to be scheduled the next morning. I know there's going to come a day where I won't be home or able to edit, so I really should bank a few videos just to keep myself safe from skipping days.

Wake up, make coffee, look at news for video material/potential jokes, make sure my hair isn't too crazy, set up the camera and the microphone, turn on lights, make sure the white balance, exposure and focus are right, test audio, start recording and filming. To make a 2-3 minute video, I get about 15-20 minutes of raw material, different takes on sentences and phrases and then edit it till I like it and upload. Weeee! :D

Because a key component of my channel is me drinking ("Two Drink Minimum") with drinking games etc, I try to keep filming to one day over the weekend. Plus some of the things I do take longer (Making A Murderer, A Different World & Death Note real-time reviews/reactions.) Then (since I'm usually terrible at getting editing done over the weekend) As the week progresses I'll prep the video the day before it's scheduled to go up and upload it early the next morning before I go to work.

I was smart enough to bank a lot of videos (I was then dumb enough to accidentally delete a good portion of them lol). It really helps. That way, when you do get a free minute to edit, you already have material to work with.

I record on Friday and Saturday, edit on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and my upload days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

ill get about 3 - 4 videos and don't edit!

i make one video a week, about six minutes long. i'm happy to have gotten down to five (5) days of work for one video. Those are more than "six hour" days. i would say 8 hours. Not all of that is editing. i research a topic, write the script, edit the script, shoot the video, edit video for pacing, edit again for volume levels, gather film & still media to be displayed in the video, edit the film clips, edit the photos for size and defect elimination, edit the media into the video, gather original music, edit the music, edit the music into the video, upload the video, upload the subtitles, create the thumbnail, research the keywords & add them, and that's basically it.

I always aim to film either Saturday, Sunday or Monday before uploading on the following Friday. This gives me plenty of time to edit the video and not rush. If I find the week ahead has a lot going on, I will try and upload a weekend video on Tuesday or Wednesday and get a second video ready for my regular Friday upload. At the beginning I didn't really plan when and what I was going to record during the day, but I'm trying to be more creative with my footage to give better context and let the video flow without too much jumping, this I've found requires a bit more forward planning.
