I Love YTtalk
Female YouTubers are most certainly not more successful. Do your research please.
There are only 3 women that I found in the overall top 100 channels, and zero women in the top 100 gaming channels. If women were successful on YouTube for being women, then surely we would dominate, if not appear much more frequently, in both of those lists?
Sure if you looked at a more biased list, like top 100 beauty or fashion channels, sure you'd find more women, but you need to look at styles that are genderless in general terms, but naturally dominated by men.
The reason for the stigma females get on the internet as a whole is because of men. I don't plaster my face, nor my body, all over my channel but I am doing very well for myself. Why? Because my content is good. I have males and females alike subscribing to me and yet I STILL get messages accusing me of using my gender and sexuality to further myself. How? With my pornographic stripper voice? Please.
Don't get me wrong, I think the likes of JennaMarbles and iJustine are massively overrated. I personally don't find them funny or talented, and if they were fat, middle aged and had acne they wouldn't be anywhere near as popular. But to place that stigma of 'pretty but dull' on any 'cute' woman is sexist, childish and a little sad. And I don't say that as a woman. Take that as an asexual comment. It's the same for women who think that a well dressed man must either be gay or horribly vain.
And that quote about rape, Rich. Really? What is it with people making idiotic comments like this? These men who rape women and children alike normally have abnormally high amounts of p**n on their home computers. They find their power through sexual domination over women and their p**n is their way of getting off when there's no unfortunate girl around to take it out on.
I think that respectfully, posts like this say more about men than they do about women. We're just doing what you do, but you're the ones drawing attention to the fact that our downstairs bits don't swing when we walk, and that's the truth.
Well that's my rant over, lol.
