Girls and Youtube

Female YouTubers are most certainly not more successful. Do your research please.

There are only 3 women that I found in the overall top 100 channels, and zero women in the top 100 gaming channels. If women were successful on YouTube for being women, then surely we would dominate, if not appear much more frequently, in both of those lists?

Sure if you looked at a more biased list, like top 100 beauty or fashion channels, sure you'd find more women, but you need to look at styles that are genderless in general terms, but naturally dominated by men.

The reason for the stigma females get on the internet as a whole is because of men. I don't plaster my face, nor my body, all over my channel but I am doing very well for myself. Why? Because my content is good. I have males and females alike subscribing to me and yet I STILL get messages accusing me of using my gender and sexuality to further myself. How? With my pornographic stripper voice? Please.

Don't get me wrong, I think the likes of JennaMarbles and iJustine are massively overrated. I personally don't find them funny or talented, and if they were fat, middle aged and had acne they wouldn't be anywhere near as popular. But to place that stigma of 'pretty but dull' on any 'cute' woman is sexist, childish and a little sad. And I don't say that as a woman. Take that as an asexual comment. It's the same for women who think that a well dressed man must either be gay or horribly vain.

And that quote about rape, Rich. Really? What is it with people making idiotic comments like this? These men who rape women and children alike normally have abnormally high amounts of p**n on their home computers. They find their power through sexual domination over women and their p**n is their way of getting off when there's no unfortunate girl around to take it out on.

I think that respectfully, posts like this say more about men than they do about women. We're just doing what you do, but you're the ones drawing attention to the fact that our downstairs bits don't swing when we walk, and that's the truth.

Well that's my rant over, lol.

Let's not get too crazy with the top 100 and such. I think the OP was talking more along the lines of 'normal and/or average youtuber fanbase' not people with viral videos or 2K subs a day. But it is true, some of the girl videos I watch like Game Meets Girl, Laina and SSJGoshin4 probably wouldn't have as many views/subs if they were overweight and unattaractive.

Which again, says more about those males than it does about them. Unless you're about to tell me their looks don't matter to you whatsoever and you subscribed purely for content, and would still watch if they were indeed fat and ugly.

Men need to stop blaming women for this - this is the EXACT reason I don't show my face, because this attitude disgusts me. So what if they're pretty? If they're s***e, don't watch them simple as. Just don't blame any success they have for their faces.

This is a non-offensive, very straight to the point thread.

When I look through some comments on youtube, even if they lack humor, whit, ect... if they are written by a cute/hot girl, it's all thumbs up.

I notice girls getting tons of views from content that is completely sub-par. By no means BAD, but you wouldn't think it would be taking in this much attention. Even if the content is terrible, they just upload videos of themselves dressed in a somewhat.... "open" manner, they still make money off of guys simply clicking it because they find them hot.

A video that infuriated me (Cannot find it now) was a video of this girl going "And why do you like my videos!!!??, is it because I'm funny, or awesome, or, ect, ect". As she is saying this, some dude, out of the frame, is pushing her boobs up and down.

I know people found it funny, but it make me think "Yeah, people are out there busting their asses to make videos, to show off their talent and find followers. Yet just because of this talentless, annoying, obnoxious, and trashy girl's genetics, she takes in millions of views for dressing like a **** and has zero f*****g talent."

Now as I said before, by NO MEANS am I picking on girls.

But really, is it easier for girls to start youtube channels if they're attractive?
yeah i actually have noticed this for a long time and made a thread about it when i first joined this forum i think its pretty ridiculous and it tricks the girls into thinking theyre actually talented when a million other people on youtube do the same thing. And many of them know it, there just in denial that viewers like them "just for their looks" and it really kills the female creators on youtube who are actually talented and have good content despite them being attractive or not.

Look at this way. All of the popular YouTube males are good looking, trim and generally pleasing to the eye. Taste is subjective, but Tobuscus, MGM, DanIsNotOnFire, VlogBrothers, Markiplier, PewdiePie, AngryJoe, Charlie… they're all attractive men and many comments are 'u r so hawt <3' or some other nonsense by hormonal teenage girls, who likely wouldn't subscribe if those people were fat, cheezit eating mamas boys with acne.

But does anyone EVER blame their good looks and/or nice bodies for their fame? Honestly now, I see endless videos, blog posts and forum threads about women only being successful because of their looks, and never ONCE has anyone ever said the same thing about a man.

Markiplier once took his shirt off and flexed for his fangirls. Pewdiepie has practically gotten naked (wearing his girlfriend's underwear, no less). But does anyone ever say that's the reason they are popular? NO.

Yet I guarantee you if iJustine ever did Harlem Shake in her underwear there'd be an uproar about how the video is crap and only popular because blah blah. After they've watched it for the tenth time, of course. *cough*hypocrites*cough*

Because men never get that crap. Only women. And it's the same thing. Like ChefKendra said earlier, it's about good looking PEOPLE. There are no ugly, successful people on YouTube because that's the vanity of the world for you. It's always men that harp on about this nonsense. It's just another form of jealousy projected out onto someone else.

Now some of those people I've listed are just plain annoying, and not talented at all. But I guess being men it doesn't matter.

Lol haha depends if the guys wearing boxers or briefs XD.

Hmmm.... I grasp what these women are saying, I don't grasp the "annoyedness". Not at the first post anyway, at Rich's p**n comment? Ok I get that, cause p**n is in no way a good thing and that was a cop out excuse for it. But that's just Rich for ya lol, I'm quite used to how his mind works. As far as being annoyed with the first post? That's how it seems to us, cause it's what we're told. It's like the biggest inside joke ever "you want views? Get boobs in the thumbnail!" He's not being a misogynist, he's just expressing how it really seems from his pov. How is he supposed to know what it would look like from a female's perspective? I understand you disagreeing, but try not to be annoyed, he's not doing anything wrong, just honestly saying how the situation appears to him.

Im no copper haha. Watcha gunna do when they come for you ^-^
