I would love it if I could lead the Big YouTuber Life, but I don't have any illusions. So, while it would be awesome to YouTube as a job, I just enjoy the hobby of making--and watching--videos.

I only want money in the sense that I want a steady income from it so I don't need another job. I only want fame in the sense that I love reaching out to people and sharing what I do.

I do it because of fun however... I wouldn't be able to do it if I won't make any money of YT.

I just asked myself "If I would make video is I was rich anyway?" And the answer is YES. So I guess the fun part is most important for me :)

I like to think that I do it for fun all of the time, but I'm not going to lie, I find myself caring about my number of subscribers a lot sometimes. But I never feel like it's a chore and I really having nothing else to do. I have never cared about money, it's just never been important to me. I love to keep making videos and see my audience's reaction to them and I feel like I have some friends that actually care about something I do for once. I think that some people are partners just for the status and not the money, which is good. Fame and $$$$$ are just byproducts of being good at something you love to do.

See, I don't think you should have to apologize for caring about subs and views.

If literally all we wanted to do was make videos for our own benefit, we'd record and then leave them on our hard drives. We want to share with the world, we want people to see and appreciate what we spend our time and effort on, and if the stars align then we can devote our lives to it rather than needing a job we hate to afford us the money and resources to do it.

There's nothing selfish about loving that feeling of people seeing and caring about what you do, or wanting to earn money from your efforts. I feel like a lot of people on this forum try to avoid saying they want to make money YouTubing, or that they want a lot of subscribers. We all do. That's why you can put goals in your signature, it's why there's a milestone subforum here. And that's a GOOD thing! Celebrate it! We're here to climb upward and make something out of our hobby. :)
 
It's fun to make money. It can also cost money to have fun. Many hobbies can be expensive. Mine just happens to generate an income.
 
As with most everyone, I do make videos for fun mostly because I don't like what I actually have to do to make money (that is, my job at the theater), but I'm not afraid to say that I'd be really pleased if I did eventually start earning an income -- as I do try and put a lot of time into my work. But I know my content is far from that point, and I'm not depending on it ever actually happening, so I'm more than alright with my channel just being an entertaining hobby
 
I do it for the fun of it, my friend who is a slightly bigger youtube (but will remain nameless) said that there is no point going into the youtube business for fame or fortune because unless your channel grows to a significant size with lots of dedicated viewers, you'll not be famous and especially won't be loaded with money. Those two elements take take and come after years of hard work on your channel and showing you love what you do :)
