I've been wondering something for a little while now... do the majority of youtubers make videos for fun or in hopes of becoming rich and famous?

What about you?
Do you do it for the money?
Do you frown on those who do or do not?

Personally, I gave up on ever making money or becoming famous. I'm uploading my game play videos directly from twitch and not worrying about editing. I might add a thumbnail later. I just pretty much stopped caring what others think and now I'm just having fun.

Fun.

Chances of making money are very slim to non-existent for an average creator. Don't think about that, the pennies you receive from adsense is not worth the input.

My top priority is education. I do a fashion series on garment care, textile types, garment details, and other clothing tips. It would be my worst nightmare to become famous for my videos, because this is a hobby but I need to be better known for my paintings and performance art. As for money, it would be really cool to luck out and be able to make a living doing this, but I don't want to HAVE TO keep making videos. As soon as something becomes "work" it's not fun anymore. So yeah. This is just for funsies.

Since it takes a long time before you make money from it (and it might not happen at all!), it needs to be fun otherwise you'll give up. But of course I'd love to have it as a job and I don't think there's anything wrong with people who dream big and are willing to work for it.

I started youtube as a hobby and it most likely will stay that way since its rare to be able to get enough views to make a good amount of money. Definitely hit fun.

I didn't really know how to answer this.

I don't do it for the fame or money in the sense of those being the reasons to do it. I mean I do this because I love making these videos. However, I want to do it full time. I only want money in the sense that I want a steady income from it so I don't need another job. I only want fame in the sense that I love reaching out to people and sharing what I do.

Eh, I'm just a pie in the sky b*****d, I suppose.
