Do You Write A Script?

This is something I have yet to do. I have never made a note or anything prior to making any of my videos. With that said, I really should start scripting or at least jot down an outline because I'll get finished with a video and realize that I forgot to say or do something.

I wrote scripts for a few of my first videos, but I found it made filming more frustrating. Now I just have a broad list of things to cover and just wing it. Sometimes I end up sitting in front of the camera with absolutely nothing to say, but that's what editing is for. :p

I have bullet points I want to hit, and I'll just play with the idea while I film.

When I do write a script though, the response is very positive because the video is more concise and structured

I know lol sometimes somthing will happen while you say nothing while the camera is rolling, I'll be in the middle of a video and my dog will randomly jump on me or something but turns out funny when editing =)

I haven't written a script before but I think making one as a draft and then kind of improving it while you do it is a cool way to do it. I just wing mine completely which sometimes works out and sometimes doesn't. Mind you my videos are usually me just saying embarrassing things which can't really be scripted! But I've talked to people who script theirs and they like it.

The only thing I don't like about scripted videos is sometimes it's super obvious when something is scripted and it feels a little lacklustre haha, maybe thats just me though.

Yes I totally agree, I've seen sooo many obvious scripted videos but they usually have a TON!!!! of subscribers so it's probably a team that works on the videos and editing and stuff not just one person doing it all like a lot of us do

wazzzup yttalkers =)

What do you all do when you have a idea for a video. Do you guys like to write down a script or do you just wing it, I personally just wing it, if I come up with a sketch idea I will just think about different ideas on whatever topic and wing it. I have a BIG imagination so i can literally take a idea and go crazy with it lol if that makes any sense ;)

I am too lazy to sit down and write a script but there are times where I will have a BADASS dream and wake up and be like Woah! that be a cool movie idea.
It depends on the video. Sometimes I have to lay out a script, especially if I'm collaborating with someone. In most cases, I either just wing it or wing it, but with having sub topics written down so that I can bounce off of them anytime during the video.

If I'm actually writing, I use an online tool I discovered from my blogging days. It's from Neilstoolbox called, "Speed-Writing". You have to write fast since you only have two minutes to address up to 6 keywords. I love it. It forces you to get right to the point, which is obviously good for blogging and making videos. Usually, you just have to widdle it down and make sure you're using lots of nouns and verbs.

As far as quick ideas, I wrote my own visual basic not taker app, sort of like sticky notes but it autosaves, and has twelve text boxes. It's really useful because I have my links, descriptions and tags all separate for quick access. It's bare bones and noobish but it saves me a lot of time.
