Do you think YT limits your views with quota?

I don't think this is the case, it would not make sense to charge advertisers for fake views that youtube just decides happen or not. That would be hugely illegal.

it also wouldn't explain the new rising stars that just go from 40 subs to 100k in a few days like that 11year old girl recently. surely they would not be able to just jump up like that if youtube 'capped' views in any way.

Youtube promoting channels via the algorithm and deciding what goes in trending or the home page is another matter, I think they very well may have a hand in some of it and will decide what they want to put there.

Both.
Just for the record we often have higher average view duration and average percentage viewed from US than from Japan - yet the algorithm prefers to keeps these videos local (Japanese YT)!
I guess for significant international promotion you need much higher channel absolute watch time.

I always just take it as its not time yet or I need to improve my videos and maybe their watch time is greater or whatnot but who knows~ Probably see us as not making enough money for them with that amount of view or something lol get me? Might need to achieve this much ad money within this many views to get your freedom, may~be~:dance: (I could be talking b******t here haha)

They all came from the video of another Japan/kids related big channel very similar to our video (may be a copy cat). Than the algorithm realized its "mistake" and disconnected our two videos before our channel could get viral. The connection was "alive" for just around 24 hours. Morever we were getting mainly new US subscribers and our channel is already asigned to be a Japanese channel - yet another transgression of the strict YT algorithm rules! ;)

You guys are having a good discussion. All these comments are making me yt is throttling and holding my channel back! I dont know the specific case for both of you. But i think yt normally moves you around in the suggest videos during the first couple weeks. Ive noticed that when i upload a new video most of the suggested videos are my videos for a week or so. And then eventually some of my videos are replaced by bigger channels.

So theres could be some of that going on instead of view throttling. But yeah some of the stuff going on feels like theres a view limit.

By the way i wonder if i get a boost after channel has half million views. In pretty sure there is after 1 million. Im almost at 500k tho i would like a boost!

I'm just happy I get those occasional spurts~ The views help get subs which in turn helps initial views~ I just try to improve what ever I can because if it happens too fast I think I'd be overwhelmed anyways and would improve less than what I have now. Get me? Getting too comfortable will not make you improve.

So just think of it as a chance to hone your video making skills before unleashing it to the world~ X3 good luck to you ^^

Have you heard of andy milonakis. Im going to jump to a lot of conclusions. But im not sold that shes 11 years old.

Her channel is well edited, from the video to the graphic thumbnails. Her video has mature themed titles. Shes talks like an adult. Even some of the phrasings sounds like somethkng an adult would say instead of a child. Her microphone is one of those expensive professional tyoes. Looks like a gamer channel but shes not playing the game.

Add these up and either shes a really intelligent gifted 11 year old well beyond her years. Or shes an adult masquerading as a child. Hard to tell but there are medical conditions where adults can look like a child (andy milonakis).

In any rate its a great concept worth sharing. I am sure theres a lot of traffic on reddit or other places saying "look at this 11 year old talk like an adult and cussing. So trippy"

Its got to be one of the two. If its the latter and this is all an act, then possibly this is bejng produced by a group that planned this out.

Or im jumping to all sorts of conclusions. When some things dont add up or look right, i tend to follow my gut.
 
YT doesn't throttle channels.

It can promote you in the homepage and suggested vids or it could not do it at all. It may promote you for a while and then drop you, either due to underperformance or some new algorithmic parameters from newly released videos that may get the spotlight you used to have. Promotion can happen for a day or weeks, it all depends on a lot of factors. With high enough popularity you can get some videos to remain on the homepage promotion indefinitely until the view rate slows down to a crawl (I call this stage "peak viewership"), but there's no way to predict how long a video will be promoted unless it's doing absolutely phenomenal stats-wise.

There's no "throttling" - that is a completely incorrect term for it. You're completely reversing the actual relationship here. YT may not boost you. That is completely different from it throttling you.

YT can give you "bumps" (think of the infamous Colbert bump that Stephen Colbert used to mention on his show). It basically gives you visibility to viewers (who might otherwise never encounter you) by displaying your stuff alongside whatever else a person might be watching.

But it does not somehow "throttle" you. That doesn't even make sense.

I'm more worried about her than anything. especially concerning the tweet she made. its encouraging a lot of negative attention, and the kind of older people parent's would NOT want near their children. and wish a sudden huge fanbase out of nowhere, its going to be very easy for an 11 year old to say something politically incorrect, racist, homophobic etc. that could cause her the kind of hate and death threats adult youtubers get in that situation.

I just hope she really is as mature as she boasts when things like that happen, and it doesn't harm her mind as she grows up

big jumps into popularity can cause people to turn bad, ... look at Justin Beiber.

I don't think it's an adult, but you never know xD it would be a great april fools prank
