Do my videos need more editting?

Heya Dutchie!

I must admit that I've clicked on your videos a few times. I think in this age of YouTube, editing can really help you stand out. I think you have a wonderful personality, but some editing could punctuate your vlogs a little and keep the viewer engaged.

Music is also a great way to do this. I don't know if you watch Anisa Johmas videos, I'm not her biggest fan but her recent vlogs are really well edited. Although she just talks, she puts little images in and little things that keep me watching. If you talk about something, you could have the text appear with a little "ding" sound; it's things like that which show the extra effort and help :)

In terms of lighting, if you can't afford (or don't want) a lighting set up, sitting in front of a window can really help (or in a bright room). I used to have a lamp that I used and would diffuse with a sheet (hahah), but now I have lights that I bought from Amazon :)
 
Hello Dutchie. Your content is amazing and I find it very interesting. your editing is really good too. But I would suggest that you would add some background music, good lighting set up and maybe some few decorations in your wall. that would spice up your video. I hope this was helpful.
 
@Katt: thank you for the kind words! I do think I need to step up my editting game, which I have been trying in the last few videos. I'll check out the channel you suggested :)

Thank you for your kind words! I'm playing around with background music at the moment, I find it quite hard to find music that fits. I'm trying to improve the lighting as well, though it's pretty hard to find the correct positioning n.n"

I use Wondershare Filmora. I almost abandoned it a few months ago, because it had a major bug that desynced the audio from the video, but they fixed it now by adding a render function. I really like the lay out and intuitive use of the program, but the reason I bought it was because it was one of the cheapest options that allowed Picture In Picture (PIP).

Hayyy thats not a bad bit of kit at all! especially for the price! Im currently looking for a new laptop at the minute and I may have to look into this... it looks lightweight enough to not completely slow a computer down to a crawl but its packed with all the essentials you need to make good content.

That was a great find! I mean, in terms of your actual editing in itself I'd say your videos were great at putting across a narrative...there are maybe one or two little pacing issues here and there (Which are some of the hardest things to get right in all honesty) but other than that your pretty solid I would say; I dont know how much you know or dont know about the editing process as a whole but i'd be more than happy to offer some further pointers through PM (Just to save accidentally filling this thread up with conversational posts) xD

It stalls a little bit sometimes, but I don't have the best laptop n.n" other than that it really provides a lot of options, even screencapture!

I'm a novice at editing, really. I've been doing it for about a year now, but I've never bothered to actively learn how to do it. I learn a lot by watching other peoples videos and just playing around with the options. I'd love some more tips, the more the merrier!

Amazon had an offer on the other day for 2 studio box lights delivered for 49.99.. not too sure if it's still on, but that may help you!!! You're a very engaging speaker! I also checked out your "50 facts about me" video, and I liked the little pop-up messages you had at the start, and the photos that popped up throughout. I think adding those to your videos is fun! Also as the others have said, some royalty free music in the background will boost your content. And this is up to personal preference, but I think it could be cool if you add a 2 second intro to give your videos even more of a familiar branding
