He originally shut them off because of the problems caused by Google+ integration, he just never found a good reason to turn them back on. I personally don't plan on turning mine off for quite some time. He also directed people to his subreddit so the discussion could continue.

Yea he even said he is going to try and build a wall between himself and his viewers which sucks. I've actually talked to him and he seems like a good guy when he realizes you aren't attacking him.
He definitely sounds like he's not in the right mindset now. Maybe it's too much right now. Building a wall sounds like he doesn't want to have anything to do with anyone and that's not going to be good for him.
That's pretty harsh. He says in his reddit post that he cares a lot about his fans and hates himself for how he acts towards them sometimes. You can believe him or not but he's been very open about other things, I don't see any reason for him to change now. I think he just needs a break.
I don't get why people keep saying that he doesn't care for his fans. The man is an absolute wreck. The reason why TB is taking it worse than others is that he is a game critic. When you take on that role you take on an enourmous amount of people who will attack the things you stand for or attack you for ratings or pointing out bad things about their "precious" game. Carolyn from GameSpot was a perfect example of this, people actually started a petition to get them fired because they gave GTA 5 a 9, oh no, they gave the game that was clearly rushed out by R* fearing the PS4/XOne fiasco, a 9 and not a 10 -.-. I would have given it a 6-7 if I let my personal opinions get in the way and I actually love R* & the GTA franchise. But TB is a different kind of critic. He's independant from the press and he will take on developers/publishers if they've wronged consumers, when other journalists won't. I love that he even had a go at journalists who were doing stuff for early access games and calling them "reviews" just to boost views when they should be calling them previews. He's still got 2 copyright strikes on his account from what I'm aware of from developers who weren't happy with his criticising, so he has to deal with it from people who are part of the industry as well. So if he wants to put his mentality, 1 of the most important things to keeping the human body healthy, before his fans, then I say he should do it. In all honesty, I couldn't careless if he didn't care for his fans anyway, I'd respect him even more, to have the integrity to do something like that without seeking praise, if he did nothing but LPs, different story there lol. He states that he does it for money but has enjoyed being able to talk to fans when he can. I'm probably 1 of the least happiest people you'll meet and I have my days where I just don't feel like gaming or doing commentary and if that meant leaving my viewers without videos for a day, week, month so that I can gather myself and the energy to do so, then so be it and if my viewers wanted to have a go at me for it, I'd tell them to go f**k themselves. I don't want viewers that demand s**t, I want viewers that enjoy my content regardless of how long or how many days I do it. Some viewers don't understand that in order to make these videos you have to be in the right mindset, even some people in the reddit comments pointed out that they noticed something was wrong with TB in his most recent videos and if they're real loyal viewers (or fans if you want to use that term, it is shorter I guess) then they won't give a s**t if TB disappears for even a year to collect himself he has every right to take a break and has bloody earned. I personally would suggest he takes a break for as long as he can, problem is, this is his livelihood, so he couldn't take a break for as long as he wanted too anyways.
I hope he takes a longer break from viewers than that. It's a shame because the few times I have interacted with him he seemed cool so it sucks that I can't do it again sometime soon but it's worth it in the long run.
