Super Poster
Hey guys!

My name is Duncan and you might've seen me around here! You might've also seen my latest thread where I told you about some demotivating things I'm having now. Nonetheless I still really want to get some feedback on my channel as a whole. My videos, my upload schedule (which is once every week on Sunday since I'm doing a fulltime internship so my only free time is in the weekend or evening, but then I won't have any light so still in the weekend) Damn that sentence was bad, I'm sorry.

What do I want feedback on:
- Quality of my video.
How is the camera, what lens and lighting would be better if I want to create that Caspar, ThatcherJoe kind of look?

- Upload schedule.
Some other forum member had a really good idea to adjust my schedule to post on Fridays instead of Sundays so the first 24-48 hours are in the weekend where people often have more free time then weekdays

- My overall performance
I've changed a lot since my first video but I still feel like I'm not myself. I'm just scared of what people might think when I'm really like myself. I'm weird okay, but that's not really showing yet. Any help with that?

My latest video if you only want to watch the most recent one:

Thank you if you want to help me.

Yay! Thanks for making a review thread. ^^

I think your video quality looks great. I liked the lighting, and it was in focus. ^^ The background was a bit plain -- it would be a bit YouTube-cliché, but perhaps add some fairy lights in the background. I think your videos might improve with an external microphone, but it would be a small improvement.

Also, the scene with your dog made me a little dizzy -- try to film using a tripod. Even if you want to walk around carrying the camera, try to avoid holding the camera with your hands. Walking around with it mounted to a small tripod instead creates a smoother picture -- the tripod helps stabilize the camera a little and prevents some of the shakiness.

Your background music was an okay level, but it was on the verge of being too loud. It was still okay in this video, but something to be aware of.

I felt like the fish story went on for a little bit too long. Perhaps try to summarize it a little more quickly.

Overall, I thought it was good! =) You were interesting to watch and it felt like you were comfortable with the camera. ^^

Other then what KatyAdelson said... I feel like your tone and personality is the same. It feels like my paster at my old church and that is why it is my old church. Maybe if you let loose and let your true self show. Now I do understand you are having problems letting go.
Here is what you do. Break lose, be yourself record it and edit a final product then look at it... if it feels like you forced it do it again, if it feels dull do it again. If it feels like its you but your think you are weird upload it... why ?
Because at the moment your fan base is building up on a person that is not truly you, now you change your direction and people might be like "ugh this is not who I subscribed to." Sure this seems bad but it isn't because you will start enjoying creating videos and editing them more and best of all your Audience would like you for who you are and they would also realize that you are not pretending and I promise you this if you do it you will gain faster subscribers and viewers more then ever because everybody is unique which would make your content unique automatically.

At the moment I won't subscribe, I want to but I need you, not some shmuck that tries to be cool for society, if people dislike your personality screw them there are billions of people searching for a tuber with your personality.

Now enough ranting. Enjoy and I wish you all the luck. I will also be checking in

Ooh one last thing... if it first it is hard and that weird feeling overwhelms you keep the video, don't upload it just look at it and think what would you change... not for society and to gain subscribers or views but what would show who you truly are, then shoot the video again. The moment you have that video that shows this is me in a video of the chosen topic press that upload button.

Thank you for your feedback SandMan! I'm not really faking my personality or whatever, it's just that on camera I'm a little bit more shy than I really am. That's why I said I already changed a lot since my first video, but it still isn't how I really am. I feel like I will get there pretty soon so that's really good :)

I'm not trying to be cool for society whatsoever, I'm just trying to be me, heck no, I'm being be. It's a little hard at first but like I said, I'll get there. The people that already subscribed have most likely subscribed because they already liked the person they saw and that person will only get better over time!

Again, thank you for your feedback I just thought I would share some pointers based on your opinion. Then again, only time will create better videos! Can't just be like SNAP and an extremely funny high quality viral video that everybody shares!

Going by the accent... Irish? Or around there?

Don't know how weird you think you are, but if you've ever seen jacksepticeye (the biggest Irish tuber?) he does fine being a crazy loud mofo.

It does sound like a lot more energy would make your videos a lot lot more entertaining. The accent is really empowered by the energy.

Hahah this is so cool! I'm actually Dutch so it's a huge compliment thinking that the English language is my first language! Thanks haha!

Yeah I know him and again I feel like the energy will come once I'll be more comfortable on camera. Also having more time to prepare and record would be really good too but... that's not possible right now. Again thanks, I'll definitely try and be more energetic!

Yea man I get ya. I'm pretty closed up myself. My first videos I did were like talking at gunpoint, after a while you loosen up, and if you're still lacking just kinda force yourself in the right direction, find a way to think about the whole thing where it doesn't bother you so much. You know how people tell kids when they do public speaking to imagine the audience in their underwear, well you need to do something similar with youtube. At least until you're more comfortable with the whole thing.

  • Your setup is really good & lighting is so pro
  • camera is super pro
  • I really like Caspar OMG!, the difference is just the energy. He is excited because of course he's been doing that for a very long time so don't worry you will get there along the way once you're used to be in front of your camera. In terms of caspar look, you almost got his style except for editing style - don't know if this is you're talking about
  • can't give an opinion about your schedule, sorry but look at your analytics maybe
  • Overall performance - you're slightly awkward in your video, just practice speaking with your camera. I don't see anything to be improved just be yourself and you will get better as you practice it everyday.
  • I've noticed that some of your commenters are girls so I think they liked you just like Caspar. You have a good face and girls like that so keep making videos. Use it.
Goodluck!

Thank you so much Luckee! Yeah, the energy and stuff will probably come over time, same goes for the editing. I'll get there, eventually. Thank you so much for this review, you made my day!

PS. And yeah, for some reason I attract girls... pretty weird because girls near me always try to avoid me hahah!
