Audience retention

My retention is crap but I still get a fair number of views from some older videos, specifically my first recording of DOOM 3 videos.

ok, everyone says watch time is king but how do you know if you have a good watch time for the day?

@Hollyweird Teens You need to go to your Analytics in your Creator Studio. Then 'Watch Time' on the left. From there you can select the range to show in the top right, so you can pick a day.

I understand that part, but how do I gauge if my watch time is good or not?

I have noticed that the retention are going down, as over a year ago, I had an average of over 1min14sec of watch time, and now is has gone down 1min03secs. and the average the past month is under the minute, so it won´t go up in the near future.
I guess the people who spams comments without watching the video drags it down!
