Is the New Zealand Accent Ugly?

I have a weird accent.. >.< I'm from the South, but grew up around a lot of New York / New Jersey / Pennsylvania / German / Spanish accents, but also spent a lot of time in Colorado and now try to mimic a Western accent.. Most people I meet are always like.. "Uhh...You talk funny -- where are you from? o.0 " I'd give anything to have a "normal" accent of some kind!!! =( I think Aussie and Kiwi accents are neat! ^_^ Those accents make the speakers sound like they are fun people to be around. ^^ I think the Irish accent sounds very smooth, and many British accents sound very proper. I think my American accent (and most American accents) sounds boring and very unsophisticated, but maybe that's just because I'm surrounded by American accents. :P

Thank you guys for the replies, glad to know the NZ accent isn't so bad after all :)

Markiplier doesn't really have an accent that's appealing as much as it is his voice in general. The thing that all 3 of those people (that you listed) have in common isn't accents, is their energy. The only time I think it would be an issue is if the person isn't easy to understand.

Wow, that makes me look at it from a whole other angle. I'll definitely work on my energy instead of worrying about my accent, thanks a load for that!

My main experience with the NZ accent comes from a couple of my friends over there. Based on them it's one of the most interesting accents to me because with both of said friends it sounds like they're slipping through several accents during a conversation - like one moment they'll sound Australian, the next Scottish, the next Canadian, the next British etc. I dunno if this is just a trait unique to said friends or something quite common with the NZ accent but I personally quite like it.

Other NZ accents I've heard also sound equally nice to me. It's definitely one of my favourite accents.

I can't really think of any type of accent that would be bad for YouTube really anyway - because either you have a very clear/plain sounding accent in which case you're easier to understand and listen to - or you have a more interesting/unique accent in which case you'll get people who enjoy your content more because of your particular voice. So either way it's a win/win really.
