$8 a Month for Ad Free Youtube

I'll never pay a monthly subscription to YouTube just to have no ads. I think it will end up hurting YouTube or the YouTuber depending on how the users react if this comes to be.

It will be an option to the user to pay for an ad-free experience. The creator will get a portion of the subscription fees.

Yes, the Paid Channel program is not very successful. Now YouTube will try to offer a site-wide ad-free option, probably within the next year.
Yes, see this is what I mean by bad for YouTube or the YouTuber depending on how widely accepted it is. What happens to the money YouTubers make now if YouTube provides an ad-free sub? Seems to me they'd have to rely on sponsors only. I don't see the smaller YouTubers going for that.

YouTube is just getting too greedy on top of forcing changes to channels in general. I'm sure there will be a lot of really mad YouTubers and YouTube will be like "tough....suck it up". YouTube will be the cause of it's own demise.

The ad-supported YouTube would still exist.

If a paying subscriber watched a video, we have reason to believe that a portion of that subscription fee would be shared with the creator based on watch time.

Great to know that YouTube found another way to make money, the idea sounds a bit weird but they probably need the money.

I want to offer that here eventually I think we will see most sites convert to that model of optionally opting out of ads for a fee, it makes sense and gives the users/viewers a choice and people like that :D

I am not against ads, just excessive amounts of ads. YTTalk is very respectful with the amount of ads, the types, and the placements. Websites that have auto-playing video ads are a nuisance. Ads are an excellent way for businesses to find potential customers. Especially with targeted ads.

That being said, ad revenue for hosts isn't exactly bountiful. Like any other business, it isn't a good idea to rely on one source of revenue. A nominal fee is fair to help support a site that provides value to the participants.
