$4k for 1 million views = an RPM of $4

The worldwide average for RPM is around $2 and most people use the figure of $1 as a more conservative estimate. So an RPM of $4 is very good indeed. She must have had a lot of unskippable ads.

I was wondering, did she announce the money was going to charity before or after releasing the video? If before, there's the risk of people clicking more than usual.

I guess seeing that she has 8 million subscribers I was expecting it to add up higher than that but considering she makes lots of videos then yes it adds up to a lot of money.
During the video she mentioned all money will go to the charity and she was really active on her social media to promote it with other celebs.

That's pretty risky announcing it during the actual video. It'll indirectly incite people to click on the ads more than usual (against the monetization TOS) and I'm guessing that's what happened.

It's really cool that she has donated money but I think it would have been safer for her account to have only mentioned the donation after the event (and then to have un-monetized the video.)
 
4$ rpm is very good, I have a video that has hit almost 400K views and I made around 150$ only so 4$ is quite great and usually people estimate an rpm of 1$ and what she got is 4x that!
 
The amount of money someone makes per view REALLY varies ALOT. There is not set amount per view. For one because not everyone watches the ads long enough for there to be money made off of that ad. Two it is like 40% of youtube viewers use ad block. There is just sooo many factors into it. I would say that 4,000$ for 1Mil views is actually pretty good considering that at least 500,000 of those AT LEAST didnt watch any of the ad on it or had ad block on.

The average is usually 1k$ for 1 million views, so the amount she made is very good. If that is the amount she made after the revenue share then she must have a really good CPM and contract.
 
$1 per thousand views is a fair standard. If she's getting $4 per thousand, she's getting very ads or that was from December where ad revenue is higher.

By the way, she gets 50 million views a month so donating the earnings from a million views is a very small portion of her earnings. However, that money is still a significant amount in general.

Yes it also depends on the country. When my video was shared in Japan I made a little more than in Europe or US.

It's tough to figure all this stuff out... Anyways, off to a Dalmatian meet up! I'll have plenty of pics for Facebook and more GoPro video, hopefully there are even more this time!
 
In Dec I averaged $3 per thousand, this month is $2 per thousand.[DOUBLEPOST=1454172139,1454171820][/DOUBLEPOST]My best Playback CPM for this month was Guadeloupe 147.02 (To bad I only had 1 view). My worst was Namibia a $0.00
