The small stay small, the big get bigger.

Great thread you have going here! Please post more tips as it helps us little channels out alot!

They're a major passing point if you want substantial growth, I mean yes there's the sloooow 3 subscribers a day, but trust me once you got a few growing gateway videos you can look forward to 100's of subs a day.
What type of videos would you consider a "gateway video"? I've had a couple popular PC benchmark videos and a couple of old commentaries.

Basically when you see a video and think "wow, this was really good, I wish there was more of this"
So not instructional videos, but creative wide appealing videos.

Like for examples sketches such as "how animals eat their food"

That's absolutely correct, and this is especially true for gateway videos, the more the merryer.

It's like multipliers really! :)[DOUBLEPOST=1367606325,1367606271][/DOUBLEPOST]
Oh and by the way I saw and liked your gateway video! (the PS CS6 speed painting)

Well thank u very much! :)

How would I find a subject for a "gateway video" , thats how I have seen many small youtubers gain subs is by having the odd video that gets a few thousand views. Is there a way I can find a subject for these videos? IE A new game, or a highly demanded video?

When I say gateway video I don't mean "a few thousand views" I'm talking at least 50.000 views.

My main gateway video is lying around 120.000 views and still growing, you want something to be semi-viral.

If you can get a full on viral video then that's even better, however you can't really aim for that. It's 30% effort, and 70% luck.
