I have a much better solution that would all but eliminate abuse of the system for good, and it wouldn't hurt the small creator.
I just can't understand how everybody here can't seem to come up with any other solution then to punish small creators that have done nothing wrong in order keep a few bad actors from abusing the system.
I am not anti-youtube. I amd PRO ME!. My post here were to encourage small creators that are ways to make money off of youtube other then monetization. Why you have to come against that is another mystery.
It's all about YOU, isn't it?

I agree, although I think that a big part of the decision though was based off a cost benefit analysis of the manpower required to monitor such a large number of small channels that make up a smaller % of there income. because as we all know the robot sucked.....lol

This is a speculation. Maybe it is right, maybe not. What we know for a fact is why YOUTUBE said they did this. And no matter how people try to spin it, it will always be WRONG to cause suffering to innocent people in a effort to punish a tiny few.

...and, if I may ask, how many checks have you received from Adsense on those 28k views?

Outside of a very, very small percentage, who are these innocent people and how do you believe they are now “suffering?”

When 90% don’t even earn $3 a month, what’s the point of them being monetized?

With a finite number of advertisers, it makes far more sense for those ads to be placed on channels that have viewers and will be able to collect the income.

Not to mention, higher view counts mean better understanding of the demographics watching the video/ channel which is only a plus for the advertisers.

First off, just because $3 is nothing to you, does not mean it is not to everyone else. Loss is Loss, whether great or small. Who are you to decide what is suffering to someone else. Jeezz. Talk about conceited!

Second, I was earning close to $100 a month before I ever reached 1000. You see, the calculations are based off of 4000 time watched. The calcualtions are not based off of SUBSCRIBERS!!!!! All you seen to focus on is HOURS, and you completely ignore the subscriber requirment, which is a far more difficult goal to reach.

I have no problen with the 4000 hours annually of watch time requirement. It actually seems very low. I was getting 4000 hours a MONTH within less then half a year when I started me channel. 4000 hours a year is nothing and it this requirement makws sense, since if your a noe getting at least this much, you are not making any money anyway.

What does not make any sense is the SUBSCRIBER requirment. Anyone can increase their watch time by producing more and better videos. But YOU CANNOT FORCE PEOPLE TO SUBSCRIBE!

Damn, as soon as you made your channel? That sucks... How did that happen or why did they come after you?

I was initially a photography channel and tried to use my website as the one to link to my channel but it was denied. I didn’t think anything of it until I completely rebranded and tried again, I’ve been given the instructions to go about fixing it but it just takes me in circles.

So I have 3 channels
Channel 1 - 835 subs
Channel 2 - 3800 subs
Channel 3 - 13100 subs

Obviously channel 1 will no longer be showing ads next month. I'm not that concerned as it only earned $20 a month.
Do you think the other 2 channels will serve up more ads and make up for that lost $20?

...yet you call me the conceited one. Go figure.

$3 should be nothing to anyone since, unless they were to wait 3+ years, they'd never see a dime of it. During that time, channels would be far better suited if they spent their focus on growing and building themselves rather then look to crumbs for motivation.

Likewise, any channel that fails to reach the $100 threshold, YouTube gets to keep 100% of the income earned. Sorry, but I would prefer that ads only make it onto channels who are certain to collect any earnings.

Had you read my question though, you'd note that I wasn't asking about people like you, the 1%.
I was curious how the rest... the 99% of those affected who made less than $100 per year in the last year, 90% earning less than $2.50 in the last month were now suffering. They're not.

But, by all means, continue with your random capitalizations and name calling rather than attempting to have a legitimate discussion.

Not true. YouTube doesn't keep the money. They transfer each cent earned (even 0.01$) to your AdSense account EACH month. Many people have other income to their AdSense accounts as well (websites, apps, article sites, etc), so that cent can be the difference between getting paid this month or having to wait 1 month more to reach the payment threshold.
