I use a Blue Snowball microphone, and while it does its job well, it's not quite the same quality as my friend's who runs the podcast channel. I am not sure why. Could I be doing something wrong that he is? The only difference I see is he has his set to unidirectional and mine is almost always omnidirectional.

I bought a blue yeti, I have one question. What are your thoughts to make it into a boom mic? If anything, can someone explain how I can turn it into a boom mic?

The Yeti? Too expensive? Hoo boy, you haven't been down the rabbit hole...

I'd like to throw a new mic into the mix, one that might be my favorite of all now: the Neat King Bee. It's an XLR condenser mic, runs about $350, but so far it has trumped literally every microphone I've used, including several in its price range (Rode NT1, AKG C214, Shure SM7B, Blue Baby Bottle) and one industry heavyweight literally twice its price (Neumann TLM 102). It's the quietest mic I've ever messed with, super sensitive, just amazing overall. If you've got the cash, it's well worth the asking price.
