Goals for Beginners?

so
Depends on what stage beginner you are. At very first (where I am) get a workflow established for creating videos. When/where to shoot, audio and any visual effects. Get to where you produce consistently. Once your in a "flow" and have your "process", then look at the numbers and tweak what you do.

...at least that's what I'm planning to do. :sneaky2:
Sounds like a Plan :)

What kind of goals should someone who just started on YouTube should strive for in terms of view count or subscribers? I know that these that aren't all there is to become a YouTuber however it is still curious to know nonetheless

Well i have been doing YouTube for a while now, my advice is work in steps. Create a decent schedule that can be worked into your lifestyle and then work from then to secure a small group of active subs. So for me for example my schedule is one video a week and i'm working towards 100 active subs (so ideally 100 views on average per video).

Big tips would be to use analytics to your advantage and keep an eye on them to see if they change or anything depending on your videos and schedule, meaning you can have a really good idea of what works and what doesn't.

Start of small with a goal of 100 subs and count your way up in 10's every month! For example, if you upload one a week, try to get around 3 subs for every video you post. Social network is your friend and that will help gain views. Look at YouTube's analytic feature too so you can see who your audience is

I think an important thing to focus on too is learning. Always learn to be better, and try to improve with each video you upload.

Try to get 1 like per video without asking for it.

Try getting 100 views on a single video in a single day.

I like the suggestion of 100 subs. That's a good starting goal. Just keep in mind that it can take time. Depending on what your making and who your audience is, that number can take a matter of days to a matter of years. I've been on YouTube for about 4 years now, and I'm still just shy of 100 subs. Some people, on the other hand, make 5 videos in the course of a month and they're well over 1000!
Network. Socialize. And don't be afraid to share your channel with people! Never sell yourself short :)

Some won't take it. Have a friend of mine who's audio is only coming out through 1 speaker. Being a musician audio is my THING, so I imparted some advice and left the door wide open in case she wanted to poke my brain. Next video? 1 channel. :/

Some people are terrible at taking advice. I'm one of them >.> I'm trying really hard to be open minded.
It's also possible that she just didn't get what you were talking about O_O

Personally I think she saw it as unsolicited advise. Perhaps she thinks her audio is fine the way it is and it's likely she did not see my video to realize "when it comes to audio, this guy knows what he's talking about". While my audio may not be perfect, it's darn good!

Start small, where ever you'd like. Then slowly increase your goal, and the milestones will come. Ultimately have 1 big and major goal in the back of your mind that you want to achieve, and the small goals will help you reach the big one!
