False copyright claims

You obviously know nothing about copyright.

Just because you purchased something does not mean you have the rights to the content. The second you do something against the terms and conditions that the company has placed on the content, it becomes illegal.

Taking it to court will not solve anything. You don't own legal rights to the content, and the case will be closed as soon as that information is announced.

Now that you put it that way I guess you are right.

But still a lot of developers and publishers have said that people can post videos and monetize them there's a list somewhere on the internet I need to find it.

This is also not correct. The TOS is not recognized as a legal document inside which anything and everything can be put. It actually ends up somewhere in the middle which is the fair use doctrine.

There are a lot of false claims going out on Overwatch, Hearthstone and WoW videos right now - This is not just me, I've talked to a LOT of the other WoW video makers. It's kind of insane.

Blizzard is also making claims on videos, even though there stance is "you can post gameplay videos on YouTube." There's a lot of suspicous activity and many people think that the Blizzard that makes the claims is not legitimately Blizzard entertainment.

---
Why does this matter?
I did further research and noticed a lot of other gaming channels having false claims from random companies. I myself have had to deal with claims from Gretech (managed) and CJ E&M as well. There's tons and tons of claims going out, most likely because the people claiming them belong to a network which has a channel that has uploaded a video that has a segment from your video. If you included any cinematics, premade trailers (from a company) or anything like that, then of course it's going to match to a video that someone else has uploaded because the segments are identical.

It's ENTIRELY possible that Collab is not making the claim for themselves, but for another channel or organization under them or partnered with them. This happens all the time and is why Gretech (managed) and CJ E&M have had so many claims go out (again, not just my channel, but many other gaming channels) in the past few weeks. Wouldn't be surprised if Collab had the same situation going on with automatic content id matches. As for why they are declining your requests? Not sure.

I understand you are upset. Perhaps I can help shed some light on the situation. As you're probably not aware, Collab currently represents over 1000 creators and has a library of 600,000+ UGC videos. We have the exclusive rights to monetize this content on YouTube. None of our content is in the public domain. Several of our clips appeared in your videos and for that reason we had to claim these videos. We are contractually obligated to protect the rights of our creators, and by placing these claims we are simply doing our job. Additionally, Collab is one of the top YouTube networks, and the leading network for Vine talent. In the future, you can email info@collabcreators.com for questions about copyright, and ways to obtain a legitimate license to the content you are using.

@Collab

Hi

You are 2 years too late. This thread is from 2014. Please don't bump very old threads - It is likely that some of the people are no longer active here and it is very confusing for those who are.
