This has got to be one of the best guides I've seen! :thumbsup2:

Just one thing, YouTube doesn't really care about tags anymore, they put much more weight on the keywords in the title and description.

And a tip regarding autocomplete: the website keywordtool.io (YouTube tab!) compiles all the autocomplete results, not just for the exact term but additional letters, numbers and words used in questions.

Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this. Really helpful information! Will try to apply these things as soon as I can :)

Include competitors names as tags
  • This works best with related channels that have a similar amount of subscribers as you do. If one of your competitor's channel's name is 'Fisher Academy', then use that as a tag. This will help you show up on the Sidebar when viewers watch your competitor's videos.

This is against YouTube's TOS and will result in a channel getting a strike.

Misleading metadata
Metadata refers to any and all additional information provided on a video. This includes the title, description, tags, annotations, and thumbnail. The reason we have metadata is so that you can add additional contextual information to your videos. Please do not use these features to game or trick our search algorithms. All metadata should be representative of the content contained in your video. Among other things, metadata added in an attempt to game search algorithms will lead to the removal of your video and a strike against your account.
