YouTubers promoting themselves on Kickstarter

God dammit. I seriously despise these sort of people.

"Hello, my fat a** is too lazy to get a job, so I'm begging you to give me free cash so I can make sub-par content that not a lot of people would watch in the first place."

I can only image what their crowdfunding goals would be.

-$5: A pre-written thank you email

-$10: A T-Shirt with my face on it

-$40: My personal Babe Ruth-autographed baseball with my name on it.

-$130: My business card

-$200: a novelty mug with my mugshot on it

-$700: I'll take you out on a romantic dinner and movie date

-$100,000: I'll come over your house and p**s all over your furniture


I mean the f*****g audacity of these people is astounding. "GIVE ME MONEY TO DO SOMETHING I DON'T NEED MONEY TO DO"

Who else agrees with me when I say ALL YouTube/Twitch Kickstarters NEEDS TO BE BANNED?
 
I think people forgot what Kickstarter is actually for. If the Youtuber were new but had a solid concept or maybe am idea that they needed help producing I could understand bit I do see a lot of people randomly asking for money just so they can film. I don't know why they think they're going to get it

You are right. As I've said before, Kickstarter (and other crowdfunding websites) is a means of people's excuse of "GIVE ME MONEY AND I DO THINGS FOR YOU". You know they have no passion in WHAT they want to do. All they do is want the cash rolling in their meaningless little lives.
 
I have seen people post on this forum asking about how to do this and even promoting their ones, I just stopped commenting on them posts because I know I would end up calling the people pathetic little cretins.

The main reason people should get annoyed with stuff like this is because this is the exact stuff that has completely ruined kick starter. No one backs kick starters anymore and no one trusts them either because snakes like this just post s**t like this. Because of that it has had a Knock on effect to actual legitimate kick starters that would actually be good to see.

That was actually one of the reasons I was on hiatus from here. I was getting sick of that repetitive s**t.

Everyone has a right to do YouTube for their own reasons, if people want to do it for money that's fine as long as they aren't being fake about it, I have 0 issues with that. And people need money to make money it's a concept you'll learn more of as you get older, most people, like me, learn it the hard way; as you are now. You're saying because you don't do it for money that everyone else has to as well? Would you rather they be bums on the side walk and beg for money that way? I'd much rather have people asking for money on Kickstarter to actually try and do something with their lives instead of wasting money on things like alcohol, drugs or useless things like that.

I know it's morally wrong to ask for money/beg to put towards something like YouTube that isn't entirely a strong business investment but that's the thing, some of these people might not get any money at all, some may but they might not get much, some of the more popular 1s may get what they need. I won't be able to afford my insurance or rego next year or even board, but I take my problems as my own and could never place them on my supporters or take advantage of them for something like that, most people should to, otherwise they'll never learn how to look after themselves and just rely on asking for money off people to bail them out of problems. But then again some people are silly enough to give them money. I guess if I was going to start a kickstarter it would be for a proper studio but even then I'd rather try earn the money myself first.
