Reddit has been my most successful promotion tool so far aside from getting embedded on PC Gamer by complete dumb luck (I happened to title one of my videos exactly what they were looking for for an article so linked my video as an example). Reddit doesn't translate to a lot of subs, but it's good for views if you can find a community that will tolerate your link, which isn't easy.

I'm definitely going to try the auto-DM thing on Twitter as that seems to be successful for a few people.[DOUBLEPOST=1432822665,1432821820][/DOUBLEPOST]Speaking of, what criteria do you guys use to search for more people to follow? I've put in a few keywords and hashtags but for some reason am only getting a couple of results.

Well I can see that you do videos on The Witcher 3 so maybe the CD Projekt Red twitter could be a good start. I also add people that follow the Youtube twitter account

first 24 hours using twitter with crowdfire has earned our channel 5 new subscribers and almost 200 followers. MOST DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRY!!!!
Follow @bcompllications and well follow back :)

Great to know! :D

I think following lots lots of people(followers) of big and small Youtubers on Twitter and DM people on Twitter telling them to check out your Youtube channel or video is the BEST WAY to get active subscribers and 100% legit channel/video views and video comments and is all so the BEST WAY to grow and get your Youtube channel noticed/out there especially when you are a small Youtuber or just starting out on Youtube! :) :)

Out of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Reddit and any other social media type websites, which do you find helps your channel/videos the most in terms of subscriber gain, engagement and views?

I thought this could be interesting to see the results. Feel free to share who you voted for and why. I am curious to see who ends up at the bottom, I have a feeling it may be Facebook.
I think I responded to this already; Facebook is my most consistent, but about a month ago one Tweet ended up getting a barely watched video over 100k views in just a few days. The way I do it on either platform is not by posting to my own site, but sharing with people who have lots of exposure. I send them stuff that is similar to other content I see them post (mostly dog videos naturally) and if they like it, they share and their audience becomes my audience. I'm just waiting for the right person to see my Milk and Coke video, I'm sure once the right person posts it the video will gain some traction... I also find sites in my analytics, if I see lots of embedded views I can normally find what video they posted, then send them more stuff and half the time the re-post the new video I sent.

I don't like following a ton of random people, so my twitter is pretty small and useless. I have ran facebook pages ranging from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands. While promoting my youtube channel on a 400k facebook page, I only got maybe 70 subs and 300 views in a single day was the peak. People virtually never watch videos from facebook. Instagram and pinterest I have zero experience. I can say that r/youtubers has been a massive help and provides great useful criticism.

For a while there, Instagram has worked wonders for me. Then again I was doing the sub4sub thing. Out of those sub4subs , having a little over 300 subscribers, I have maybe 10 people who consistently comment and like my videos. On one hand, this shows why sub4sub doesn't work that well, and we all know I've griped and complained about sub4sub lol. On the other hand, it is how I got my 10 or so loyal followers lol. I use Twitter but don't really understand it or like it, and haven't had much luck. No surprise there. I've gotten maybe a handful of subs by commenting on people's videos with similar content to mine as well. I have also used sub4sub websites but have found that the people will unsubscribe even though it says they are not supposed to. Anyway, this was in the past, I learned my lesson now. That's all. Le sigh. I'm working on a new way to gain subs that will be more legitimate and sincere. Even if my channel grows a little slower.

I've only ever tried Reddit and twitter but Reddit has gained me at least 100 gains in views when i post in Reddit but with twitter it barely gets me 5 view gains. but also Reddit I usually get dislikes but at least it helps in bringing up my view count.
