I've Got It
Hey yall,

I was reading some forums and found people saying YouTube is a competition to see who has the most views and subs. Is this really the true nature of YouTube? I know shane Dawson thinks like this (love him) but I just find it sad. Thoughts?

I would never have thought so. But recently I found a similar channel to me. And it is making me push harder for better content.
I think competition is healthy.

It is if you're in it for the money. Truth be told, there is no such thing as bad content, 7 billion people in the world, there's always people out there that will like your content. It's just a matter of how you reach them, and that's where the competition comes in. If person A makes better content than person B, it means person B has better ways for reaching his audience.

Very interesting way of putting it!

I see this a lot, and I think it's unfounded. If someone has millions of subscribers, that doesn't in any way preclude you from having millions of subscribers, as well. There are so many people watching YouTube that the success of one channel isn't going to affect your chances in any way. It's hard to think about it in that way, but when you're dealing with the number of views, uploads, and clicks going on within the platform, it's not "one vs. the other," it's just getting yourself to a place where you're noticed.

I guess it can be, but If that is the case there would only be 1 winner. Saying people who have like 10+ million subs have not won just because they are not on top seems kind of stupid

I honestly don't find it to be competitive . At least for me since I don't speak on behalf of others. YouTube, to me, is mostly a hobby so I am not really concerned with views or what money I can make from my videos. However, other people who do make a living on YouTube may need to compete with other channels in terms of content. At that point it becomes a job which you need to make money from. I personally would like to keep that from happening. I feel like that would take all the fun out of making videos since I'm only focused on meeting a certain quota :spin:.
