YouTube, Help Us Small Channels

It's tough - but lots of startup and small channels are also totally awful. "Good" is entirely subjective, the only real way for Youtube to gauge quality is look at views...

But when I had only 40 subscribers one of my videos got over 7000 (Now at over 11,000) views. How? Well it got noticed by Mashable.com and made it into a little feature. If your content is good you may get noticed by someone - but even with a little bit of attention I'm still at the bottom of the food chain. Success on Youtube is part luck, part hard work, and part producing quality videos.

Just don't think about that. If you like making video's you shouldn't be concerned with people not watching. If people really do like your video (through social media and such) it will eventually spread to unknown people.
It's all about how good and interesting your video's are. Just be funny and awesome!

I try to do the same. Although I do understand your point. ;)

Stay Awesome! <3

I think that is a great idea, because there are many good small channels out there that deserve more people to follow them. My channel, for example, only has twelve subs, and the majority of the people who actually find out about me are my friends, and other people around my area. I believe YouTube could make a spot for people like me and other channels

People who say they want smaller channels to be promoted just want their own channel to be promoted.

Anyone in the world, including the original poster, is allowed to create a viable video network and business model around these supposed high-quality low-view videos. If viewers come flocking, then the rest of us can say you were right all along. :sneaky2:

YouTube has given everyone in the world a free platform to share their videos and make money off their own content--I don't see any other major social media platforms doing that. What makes you think they owe you more?

i got one sub every week for a year then i made videos that got views but i had 200 subs, i used to make bf4 play troughs but every one is doing that the videos i make are rare, only 5 to 15 people do them but if you made a video now put it on my channel and yours it would get thousands on my channel and none on yours as you need to share and build your way into google then i will put your video in better place, thumbnail's r most important, i have seen great channel still At 400 subs and there videos are good, it took me years over 2 to get 5000 subs last may then it exploded
its almost impossible to get on the ladder u will realise when you are on it

I love how the first post refers to 10K as small. Pssh. Small Youtubers have 100 subs or less, like yours truly. I'd fall off my chair if I logged in someday and randomly had 10K subs.
