Youtube Fulltime

Well if you've got this far on youtube in 3 years and looking at your channels stats your growth is really good! You could have a channel and be making a lot more then you think, people are always going to be using youtube and now that its on a stable company (google) it shouldn't be going anywhere but like I said.. While doing youtube full time this could give you the chance to study something on the side which really interests you without having to worry about money, then if youtube crashes and burns in 10 years or you want to stop you have a fall back :)
That's true. If I go to a community college and do youtube part time, I'll come out of college with no debt. My problem is that I hate school...

what you mean anyways dude? you just said what i was trying to tell him but you were arguing with me for some strange reason...lol
You where trying to get him to not try youtube full time.. I'm saying he should go for it but have a fall back :)

If that happens I'm going to start calling Youtube a bubble.
Youtube CPMs are still way down compared to T.Vs CPMs, I know that the average payout that RTE (Ireland`s tv channel) , gets is about 250$ per 1000 views or something like that :| (and they get less views than some bigger channels on YouTube)

So CPMs are going up at a massive rate as more advertisers move over to the internet.

So being in a network that has close ties to advertisers and has their own ad-sales team is the kind to join atm ;)

Yes but I'm guessing you wouldn't go for a full time course.. This means you would do most of the work in the comfort of your own home :)

If youtube was the fallback.. That means he would be relying on youtube more...

If you're going to read one post in this thread, read mine.

It's definitely possible if you truly learn what people want to watch. But just know that it's not just making videos, you have to be constantly improving your videos. Most people say this but they don't follow through. Seriously, your videos need to be THE BEST, and then you will get a lot of viewers and it will be no problem making a living. I hate to say it but 99% of the time when someone says "I have good content," I take a look and just by looking I can tell it's not marketable.

I haven't really looked at your videos but you seem to have a decent number of views and subscribers, so you probably already know what I'm talking about. Don't lie to yourself and say "well this video will be good enough", because you will know it's not, and you will know the reason it doesn't get a lot of views. I've done this enough times myself where I know I'm putting out a crap video, and low and behold, there are less views on it.

My next point is if you're going to do it full time, that means FULL TIME. Treat it like a job, 9 hours a day. Just imagine what kind of videos you'd be able to make if you spent 9 hours a day learning how to edit videos, new video techniques, etc. People who say they want to make YouTube their job rarely treat it like one, then quit after they don't magically get rich without putting in the work.

Finally, let me tell you something. The other people who have been discouraging you, screw em. Seriously. If you really want to do this, then grab it by the balls and give it your all. And I really do mean all. If you get lazy, you WILL fail. The professional puts in his time even when he doesn't want to, no matter what. All that being said, you really have to want it, and you cannot slack off on something like this because the people on YouTube will refuse to watch anything but the absolute best. YouTube is NOT easy; as a matter of fact, it's probably harder than a desk job. Don't do YouTube because you think it will be all fun and games.

The Super Bowl is only 27.5$ per thousand, but perhaps my math is wrong.
