It is an awesome idea!! Probably you'll already know about IMSLP, but otherwise I recommend you to check it out, it's a gigantic online music sheet archive. They even have a category for 4-guitar adaptations:

If you like Bach's Goldberg variations, there is an arrangement in there which I heard some months ago and I have to say, it is wonderful
