Windows Movie Maker?! :S

Strange, doesn't do that for me. Automatically the volumes are set to 50% on each clip I drag in, I just need to edit the sound from there and up it to 100% in most cases. Although I don't use Windows Live Movie Maker, anymore.
yeah, what you're talking about sounds like classic Movie Maker. Without the 'Live'.
 
As many others have already said, Sony Vegas is probably the best to choose from. It is more professional and yeah, it is confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, using Sony Vegas will be way better in the long run.

Thank you! To be honest I think I will go for sony vegas it seems to be the most reputable, best reviewed etc! ^_^ and its also quite a good price! (i'm a student so i'm always skint haha!)
