Why don't any of us show up?

My channel homepage has a section to promote the videos from smaller creators that I've enjoyed, it's unlikely to change the world but it might earn some people a couple of extra subs. Whenever I add a new video to the playlist a tweet is also automatically sent out to my Twitter followers with the link to the video so that's pretty cool too.

The people who created YT were really stupid because they make it incredible difficult to get organic views on your videos. I get nearly 5 times the amounts of views on Instagram because the hashtags actually give the videos exposure by showing in the hashtag feed. In contrast, tags on YouTube seem to drown in a sea of other channels that have more views and subscribers, because YT's search engine figures that what people are interested in.

Hey! This is meant to be a question/rant... So I'm searching my subscriptions when I finally realize, I'm all caught up... There's NOTHING else to watch. So then I go over to the home tab and notice it's basically the people I already subscribe to, but like... OLD videos. :(

So then the thought pops into my head, WHY doesn't Youtube highlight a young/new channel that maybe has a lot of likes, or views... Just kind of annoying how hard it is to get your name out there without being "spammy".

You have to learn something, and learn it quick. YouTube is a business. As such it behaves like a business. Businesses have a finite amount of resources. They will always allocate those resources to channels that make them money. The channels that in essence pay for (and then some) the servers they are running on. That is why they will not promote a small channel. It would be a waste of said resources.

Such a great thought! I would love suggestions that were recommended for me, but focusing on smaller channels just so everyone had more of a chance to get recognized!

I would watch political videos and it didn't take too long for the majority of my feed to be flooded with political videos.

In order to change that, I started selecting the "not interested" option (shown below).

I also started searching for things that I would be interested in watching. I started with an artist called "Seasick Steve".

You can also visit the Videos and Channels section of YTTalk and start perusing.

If you watch a few videos, it should change-up what you are being recommended on YouTube.

This question comes around every month or so. There's just too many channels. In sub groups and auto generated playlists though smaller channel videos are often added. Two of mine were

I usually get quite a few small channels recommended to me. I kept doing the "not interested" thing on the channels I didn't want to see and now my home page is pretty reliably full of stuff I like :)
