Why are you a Copycat?

That being said, i would never do something that could be easily mistaken by any other project.

I think that's based on the viewer's judgement. If they are just going to skim and not actually pay attention to what and who they are watching, then their sheer lack of attention is their own shortcoming.

I would most likely create something similar but at the same time very distinct.

This is a great point you made here. After all, the greatest work in all of mankind is based on a previous creation made better. Now, I'm not to say that I'm at all "better" than asapSCIENCE, but I sure don't feel like a copycat. It's too often people think that sharing the same format of someone else all of a sudden makes their content easier to create. Had I thought "copying" asapSCIENCE means that my videos would be so easy to make where I can crank out a video each day, then I would be a fool. No one is here to do the research, drawing, editing, nor creative process to put my videos together.

Now, I do agree that people who blatantly copy for the sake of misleading others to believe that they are the person they are copying is downright reprehensible. But I do not have any problem with creators that are inspired and use other people's creative outlets in order to share their own thought processes. After all, each let's-player, vlogger, tutorial maker, prankster, comedian, singer, musician, and so forth were all inspired and used the same format of those that came before them.

We're mostly just talking about people that intentionally duplicate a channel, as in, try to do what a channel does exactly how they do it. People keep thinking we're talking about being influenced or doing the same genera or style. But we mean clones in the exact sense. Well, as close as you can get without being a genetic clone.
yeah for example you can relate my videos as being in the same genre as say pyrocynical to dolan dark etc,

lets take leafy for example. Can you honestly point out the differences between these 2 people.

OMG, that's sad and depressing. They sound exactly the same. Youtube is full of garbage.

Ya that's garbage! What is that even supposed to be? How does that video have 5 million views. And how does the other still have 5000!? I feel like my brain died and I only watched 15 seconds of that. Well I may never have 99999999 subs but at least I'll sleep well at night knowing I put out stuff 29 billion times better than those schmucks

To me what's garbage is one guy copying the other, even using the exact same voice. They sound the same. It's a clone.

As far one having more views than the other...well, one came first, and probably is better at what he does.

I think that people gravitate towards successful formats and think that those are "standard" or "ideal" -- it's really easy to see what other people in your niche are doing and just assume that "that's the way things must be done."

I think they may also look up to the person and want to do everything they do because of how much they like them

True originality doesn't exist, but copying 100% of someone style can seem like they are just looking for shortcuts to success. Taking bits and pieces and adding you own personality is fine I think. I believe there are tested methods for every type of video/channel but without adding your own style or flare the viewers will not connect with you like you'd want them to. Sure you may have some success copying but there is a sense of pride that goes into being unique.
