@Lightsen quick question but, what's it like having an audience of over 80,000 viewers? To a scrub channel like me that seems pretty fuckin insane but I'm not really sure what you think of it :y

I think everyone agrees that trying to get the best of both would be the way to go :) and I agree with that!

lol at first i was like "i can't wait to finish this they are gonna love this!"
and then after a while im sitting here like "omg they are going to hate me"
lmao

Hahahah that's pretty much how I feel whenever I post a new video. Sadly... I don't really have the same numbers as you have hahaha...

It's more important to make stuff you want to make 100%, and as another animator I can say that's 10x more true for animation, it takes so god damn long to draw 3,000 frames for a two minute video if you're not into it then why are you putting that effort in?

On the other hand animation tends to take so long (for me at least) that by the time I'm half way done an animation I don't find what I'm doing funny anymore after listening to the audio 100+ times. I'm half way done three separate animations right now and I don't even have that many finished on my channel. s**t's hard, yo

Doesn't help much that I'm drawing with a mouse and not a tablet though.

I think it's okay to try new things as long as they are in line with your personality and aren't going to outright offend everyone that follows you. Often times I find that subscribers like a bit of a change in content, and if you are having more fun making the videos that will often come through in the final product.

Sure, you want to keep the subscribers happy... but if you aren't happy, what's the point?

I'm lucky in that what I like to do is what my viewers expect of me, anyway. I like reviewing things, they like to see reviews, so if I throw in something out of the ordinary (like a rant/vlog or storytime (haven't tried that yet)), it doesn't matter much because I'll likely get back to what we both like in the next video. I think it helps to keep the subs happy, but hopefully they watch because what you like to produce is what they're interested in seeing.

I think it's a balance between both what viewers want, and what I want to do, but I lean more on trying to make videos subscribers would rather watch. The only thing that gave my channel a tiny bit of momentum was posting tutorials -- something I originally had no intention of doing until I was asked to make them by a few viewers... I think it's good to change up your content a little bit. ^^ YouTubers who never try something new with their content tend to start developing a "same content, different video" vibe. Viewers think they want the same stuff over and over again, but eventually they will get a bit bored and move on to watching something else. =/ I think adding in videos that change things up a bit, but are videos you want to make, are good. =)

lol I don't really know. I think because its been such a gradual thing over many years, I've not really had it truly dawn on me yet. but yeah, recently I've started to realise that wow, that's actually a pretty damn big number of people O_O and i think that's what's influenced the original post of this discussion.

its pretty awesome to have so many lovely people commenting though, its a great motivator!

yes that's why i often end up with an entirely different animation than the script because i change the jokes and add plenty of stuff in while im animating :D keeps it funny for me!

that's a really interesting point! some of my favourite youtubers i thought I would hate any change, but when they put different things in their channels I ended up really enjoying it :)

I can see why you would worry with Undertale being a game that people like to hate on for being so popular. I tend to only make things I enjoy myself and hope that others will find enjoyment from it the same way I do!

I've seen a few of your videos even before seeing you on this site, and I personally would just be happy to have more content from you regardless of what game you choose for your animation :). Also variety is good and can bring fresh faces in to see your other videos!
