I'm currently using Filmora - I believe I purchased it for about £30 for a lifetime subscription, extremely simple to use, plenty of basic transitions etc.

Personally, I use Lightworks
It's a video editor of proffesional level AND it has a free version! However although it is a good program it has its drawbacks. It can only handle certain video formats but your recording may be in a diffrent one making it hard for Lightworks to display both video and audio correctly. However this is easily fixed by downloading a software called EyeFrame which can convert your video into a Lightworks-friendly format.
Lightworks is pretty good once you get used to it and offers A LOT more options than windows movie maker but it has a steep learning curve and all features aren't very obvious. There's a lot of tutorial videos and forum help for that though.

LightWorks is a good software for it being free!
