When first starting a channel what do you feel is more important: subs or views?

View count is waaaaaaaaaay more important. I see tonnes of channels doing sub for sub s**t that have literally 500+ subscribers but their most popular video has less than that many views. The reason views are more important is because they factor into your video appearing in suggested videos whereas subscribers don't benefit your channel at all except for giving you more views, so literally you want subs to get views, views are king.

I started my channel on may 18th. In the last 48 hours my channel has gotten 3200 views. i have gained 17 subs in the last 4 days........ i have never thought, "How can I get more subs?". I just dont worry about it.. Content gets views, great content turns some views into subs... worry about making the best content that you can, try to make each video better than the last and the subs will come eventually. it took me 6 weeks to get my first sub

It all depends on what you want as an end goal for your channel. If you want to make money then your views and watch time is very important. But if you want to have a fan base then subs will probably your best bet. Me personally I try to strive for both because I know YouTube might get me money someday but I also want a happy community surrounding my channel as well.
