What's the hardest milestone to reach? (In subscriber count)

I think it varies from channel to channel as you said, for me 120 subs took just under a year. In part I think it's because I have no idea what my target audience is, I just do my own thing.
 
If you promote your own channel I think 100 is a steep climb but manageable.
But 500+ is a whole different ball game!
 
I think the first 10.000 subs is the hardest milestone. Most people never get there, and if you get there it means you are doing a lot of things right. On the other hand most people who put in some effort can get to a 100 subs.

Hmmm perhaps ants would make a nice target audience, just imagine how many clicks I could get from those suckers! Then again the comments section will be a bit boring I fancy.

Definitely the first 100 :P I have been struggling for a year but thats probably because I lacked content. I am regularly uploading now and it seems to bee paying off :) 8 subs in one week I am quite proud hehe!
 
Your title question and the question in the thread are two different things.

For your title question, "What's the hardest milestone to reach? (In subscriber count)" 5000-10,000 is the hardest to reach because those with 5-10k had to reach the other milestones to get there.

For the question in your post "which point during posting videos is the most difficult to get to the next milestone with?" 1-5k took me the longest so far.
