What to upgrade for better performance?

I have a 500GB HDD 7200 RPM, not sure about the data speed. So many mixed answers, i dont even know what to do anymore.

Ugh.
Get a bigger sized Hard Drive if possible, at least 8Gb RAM if not 16 for rendering, and upgrade video card for definite! But probably to reduce rendering lag, upgrade RAM.

For rendering, RAM and Processor are both the most important ones, its difficult to choose.
it was stated that while editing the reason for upgrading is to reduce lag if im not mistaken
RAM will help in this area!
CPU will help for rendering final output
Video card has nuthing to do with this unless ur using the GPU, an aspect thats specific to the application being used.
7200 rpm @ 500gb is sufficient unless ur at like 10GB space free
RAM RAM RAM
the most cost effective way to boost ANY PC's performance

And what's your ram frequency? 1333? Check it on Speccy. Google it.

1600 is the sweet spot of ram now and you can buy 8GB 2x4GB stick @ $63(Price hike for some reasons). But since you already have a 4GB ram, just add one stick I guess, it won't hurt that much.

So what processor you're going to buy?

Here's what each of them will give you:
- A better CPU will let you render faster,
- A better GPU will let you edit faster and more smoothly (it'll render previews faster and in better quality)
- More RAM will let you edit moar things :D more RAM means you can store more video and edit more at the same time.

You choose, I'm not awfully sure what would be the most beneficial :)

I am buying Phenom II x6 1100T

Here are my ideas!
If you are rendering in 1080p try 720p or a lower quality codec.

Not working?
I would try upgrading to a quad core processor!
RAM is NOT necessary but helps making rendering faster,
But I would highly recommend a Quad Core 3.2 Ghz
Also, having a 64 but operating system can help A Lot!

I run
Win 7 64 bit
6 Gb DDR3 ram
Quad Core Intel i5 3.2 Ghz
1TB Solid State HDD
Radion HD Graphics Card
