I agree here, the more cores and more powerful the cores of the processor the faster and smoother rendering and editing will be. the GPU will then help rendering if you get editing software like Premiere Pro where you can set the GPU to help with rendering.Pretty simple answer.....
If you are looking to increase performance while editing, ie. make editing as smooth as possible, then the CPU has nothing to do with it, look at upgrading your RAM, and then possibly the GPU as a secondary option.
If you want to make rendering and exporting the video as fast as possible, then its definitely the CPU. Depending on which software you use, some software can offload rendering to the GPU as well, but as a general rule for faster rendering its the CPU that wants upgrading.
I would first work out how much better the new CPU is going to be.. whats the Current duel core? in GHz and whats the new Quad core in GHz?So, If I am looking for my PC to be smoother WHILST editing, then upgrading the CPU is the way to go?
sounds like it would be work itMy current one is a Phenom 555 3.2 Ghz, the one I am looking at right now is a Phenom II x6 2.7 GHz.
if you end up getting another upgrade after.. I personally would go for the RAM as it will the multitasking run even smoother while you're renderingThank you! I guess that's my choice then.
