What helped you at the beginning?

Creating for yourself with the purpose of helping and/or entertaining an audience. I love my videos because they display what I do best and I enjoy every second in making them even if no one views them at all. Without creating a barrier of "oh man I have to make a video to keep the momentum and gain more views" you have endless potential doing something you enjoy doing. Keeping this in mind, your content will always be amazing and will shine through to others.

I was just really inspired to make videos and get better at doing it. I guess that was all that got me through the beginning.

Somebody random on the internet appreciated my first video so much, he decided to play it on a (online) radio station. that's where the ball started rolling...

I make content on a topic that I really like, and then people support the content, giving me ideas on how to improve the videos, channel and eventually website. Its what keeps me going and has been a fun ride so far.

Well I am at the beginning right now. Seeing what other Youtubers have achieved, where it has taken them and hearing their stories about how they grew their channels are quite inspiring. Then there is this forum for the same reason but from people still near the start of that journey.

Finally if I ever doubt myself I have a piece of paper where I brainstormed the reasons I started my channel, how it can help others, how it can help me and how it all aligns with my goals. When I look at that, it brings it back into perspective.

Plus I just enjoy making videos. I studied video production at university and haven't made a film in a few years due to having an unrelated job. Its soooo nice to open final cut pro again and play with my DSLR.

Loving this forum and seeing everyones stories.

Each and every new subscriber we ever gained and each positive comment we received. Especially when it isn't from a friend because you never know when your friends are just being nice

Others inspired me. I've watched YouTube series by not particularly professional presenters, but their personality and content is good. One of them has 19,000 subscribers and over 2m hits on their videos. I thought "I can do that, and it seems fun". So I began!

I like the community aspect too. The thought of even 10 people commenting on a video I've uploaded is lovely. 100+ would blow my mind! So yeah - inspired by others!
