What do you want to accomplish on YouTube ?

For me its my creative outlet that helps me build confidence in my self. Also I just enjoy making videos and engaging with the community around them.
Definitely a hobby for me since I have no plans to quit my day job, but I would like it if it could pay for it self lol!

Wow, I never looked at it like that. YouTube does build so much confidence!! I normally keep to myself, but since I've started my channel I'm more out going.

I see a lot of talented people on YouTube, but some of the most talented Youtubers don't have many subscribers. I am now wondering what people want to truly accomplish on YouTube.

Is YouTube just a hobby? or Are you looking for mega success?

It's a hobby with the understanding it could lead to mega success. If you go in it for mega success you'll end up like 99.9% of the other people that went in wanting that very same thing. They get frustrated by the lack of short term gains, spam their videos where they don't belong, join a MCN because they promised them the world (yet they will never deliver on those promises), then start complaining on forums such as this one (the "I get no views / sub" threads are rampant at times) and ultimately quit. You can set goals all you want, just make sure they are realistic, and don't get frustrated if you don't get there.

If you join because you have a passion for creating than you will have a blast regardless of the subscriber number. And that is where I am at. A "lowly" 2.5K subscribers after nearly 3 years, but having a blast!

It's fun reading these!

Genuinely, I just wanna be a good influence on people - I don't know how to word it but yeah. Most of my stuff being lighthearted and funny which I love, but the odd video can get real ^_^

I can honestly say it is nothing... Youtube the pressure safety valve on my craziness, I spit out a video a week to keep me sane, if people want to see that all the better.

Great points !!!

I find YouTube a way to keep me and my brother creative. Just like Instagram, you can post your work showcasing thoughts and ideas. I love Instagram cause I can share images of my artworks, it keeps me creating. With YouTube I want to use it as a timeline of sorts. I can share my work and brothers work with whoever wishes to watch them, as well as have it lay out for me to show how much we improve with time. I have a day job that doesn't require much creativity, so when I have time off or days off I use it to create animations for YouTube. It keeps us on our toes and we're using our time to actually learn how to do new things. :)

I actually made an entire video on this subject recently, so I'll try and summarise what I said in that. I just want to have fun doing something that I enjoy, and hopefully entertain the people who watch and make their day ever so slightly better by doing so.
Oh, and I can't forget all of the fame and money I want :) (I'm kidding, that's not my motivation to do YouTube at all!)

Would love if my channel brought in enough to allow me to travel more and buy extra stuff to review outside of what I already do for my job. YouTube for me is just about having fun and meeting people.

Honestly I'm not sure that I want to 'accomplish' anything, I enjoy making content and sharing it and while it would be nice to get more views, I enjoy what I do and for right now that's enough, so yeah it's really just a hobby for me. :)

I've always enjoyed making content or creating stuff and I also enjoy playing games. So I thought I must atleast try and make some content related to games. With that done I just had to take the leapand start my own youtube channel where I could share my content. Its basically a hobby based on my other hobbies. Also to be quite honest if Youtube can support my gaming hobby financially I would not mind at all... :D but that is not why I do Youtube....
