This is 100% a hobby for me. I've been doing theater for over 30 years, and I've done it professionally for a number of them, but it's much more fulfilling to me when I do it as a side thing, because if I am in theater full-time, then some of the magic is gone.
I suspect some of that would be the same for YouTube. I love making videos, but knowing I can walk away from it anytime it stops being fun keeps it fun, if that makes any sense. I'm thrilled with the number of subscribers I have (and with any who choose to join me in the future) and I've gotten paid a little bit of money from it, but I don't think my weirdo channel is going to support me fully ever, and that's probably just fine.
