Thanks! no problem, I'm always on the lookout. I can imagine how many illegal downloads you must get. It's good Yt let's a channel apply for content-id, I thought it was only for MCNs. But I guess you need a high video inventory and significant subs/traffic, we are at least a few years away from that!

To make money for zero work and zero investment. And even if they don't monetize, they use the video to drive views to their channel and to their other videos which are monetized.

I had a video copied when searching for mine and they removed our watermark. Now I place our watermark on the actual video and no longer on the YouTube watermark option. Other than watermark anything else we can do to avoid this?

There's software online to remove watermarks, so it's not a deterrent. they can also crop the video to obstruct the watermark, all they want is the initial view to trigger the ad.

Best thing is every week search for your keywords, you channel name, etc and issue takedown notices. Once you get big (or join an mcn), you can get contentId.

If it's too much work, you can probably hire a virtual assistant from elancer or fiverr to run the checks for you then email you the offending links. I'm sure there are people online who would want to earn a few bucks.

What a shame had no idea there was a software. I understand for every idea there are copies but this is a huge distraction for creators. Making matters worse the thief monetized the copy of our video with my kids which angered me personally. By the time I found/reported it they accumulated thousands of views making money off my family and hours of hard work. We are a new channel with a few videos and I'm not monetizing them yet so this frustrates me how easily a video can be duplicated. YouTube must see this as a top complaint there has to be a technology equipped for this.
