Tumblr Allegations Against YouTubers

Well the fact that Luke definitely did it, not only to "get laid" but to manipulate several women at once into sexual relationships with him, and manipulated even what they would wear, make them apologize for his s****y behavior? Yeah ... that's really not cool.
No its not cool and it's a very good thing it's coming out. I hope he feels it where he cares about the most - his success and revenue.

What's odd is the fact, his most successful channel was his vlog channel - yet he's practically abandoned vlogging over the past year and nearly dropped out of social media entirely.

@francisleo No problem, there's never anything valuable in just arguing, plus both people usually have something valid to say.

@EleniVTV How young do you think is too young? (let's just pretend the law was open for review) Up until 2008, the age of consent in either British Columbia or all of Canada was 14.

Some of these revelations are upsetting the axis around which my world is built.

I always joke about how 'fake' a lot of these popular male YouTubers are, but I never knew how shocking what's behind the curtain would be. I feel bad for the girls obviously but also the young (millions) of fans these people have.

I just read that new tumblr post - Luke sounds like such a crazy. The posts are interesting, though I hate how they seem to generalize things like if a girl sleeps with the YouTuber, she's being taken advantage of. How many people are Conard levels of crazy - 1%?

I need to say I have not looked into this whole drama thing, but rape or other abuse is always wrong whoever is the victim of it. Luckily I don't involve myself in such shady things...

@MegaBoringGuy I think 14 is too young. I don't care about the official age of consent. I'm not saying if the guy is 18 and the girl is 16 it's creepy...but if these guys are 25 and the girls are 15-16 then it's not right...they're too young. I don't believe that just because a girl slept with a youtuber she was taken advantage of, I do think that some of them were actually taken advantage of though.

All right, I'll bite. "Rape culture" is the popular term for a culture that, while perhaps not explicitly endorsing or condoning rape, does enable it. The chief symptom of "rape culture" is a social stigma that makes it difficult for victims to come forward and address their experience, whether that's seeking emotional/medical/psychological support or pursuing legal action.

Calling alleged victims "dumb *******" reinforces this social stigma and so is evidence of a "rape culture".

Men also suffer in a "rape culture", both as actual victims of assault and as the target of social pressures to perform and "get laid", equating their value and success as men to the number of partners they've had. Machismo-run-amuck leads to its own set of emotional and psychological issues.

Now there is an absurd wing of the "anti-rape culture" movement (as there is of every movement) and it's easy to find that absurdity on the internet, but I think the important thing to remember is to be mindful and compassionate when talking about rape, especially when all we know comes from some Tumblr posts and 3rd parties.

I would like to add that Rape Culture is very accepting towards rape. Most rapist are never arrested, charged, investigated, and sentenced to prison. Most police departments do not test rape kites. They keep them in the back for testing. The West's failure to properly address rape is very disgusting.
