I am leaning towards false for a number of reasons:

1. If the crimes are as serious as stated, then you don't put it in the court of public opinion, you put it in the court of law. This post smacks of character and reputation assassination.

2. She says that on the night of the first assault that at the dinner before hand Toby was clearly high. Presuming that he was using the alleged drug of choice MDMA he would simply put find it incredible hard to get up, a side effect of the drug. It wouldn't be impossible, but the words to me read as it all happened very quickly which I don't think is actually possible biologically speaking (A quick Google will confirm this). This is of course all on the assumption of MDMA.

3. The time MDMA lasts in they system. It isn't 3 days, Its more like 3 - 5 hours (again, a quick Google will confirm this)

4. Her allegations state that the drug left her unsure if she had had sex or not on the second assault (my wife tells me that you know if you have - I accept that this is her experience and not necessarily true for all) and then jumps straight to rape.

Of course it could all be true or some degree of truth, but it just doesn't ring true in places.

In truth I suspect that Toby Turner is quite the womaniser and that the cheating aspects were probably accurate. As for the rest unless it goes to court we will likely never know.

As for Toby, well I suspect innocent or guilty the damage is done.

I have no idea whether this guy did anything or not, but I believe that punishments for rape should be harsher, and equally important, that the punishment for false accusations of rape (or any kind of crime for that matter) should be equal to that of the crime itself. If it turns out that he did do something he will be put in prison, and rightfully so, but if it turns out he did nothing wrong, his character will be marred forever while she gets a slap on the wrist if that. The accusation itself is enough to ruin his life both socially and professionally.

The only problem is... what if it's true? He doesn't deserve a free pass just because he's that there guy that makes them funny youtube videos. It's a hard case, but I don't think that many women would make something up like this with such detail.[DOUBLEPOST=1460433271,1460432278][/DOUBLEPOST]Just read the blog post. Way too detailed to be made up. This isn't just some incident or a date gone bad, this was years of abuse. She has no reason to bring upon such negative attention to themselves and to want to tarnish this guy's rep with such detail. I'm afraid it sounds like this sick f**k really did it.But of course, he's a big youtuber and had toys made out of him, so we must ignore what he does and praise him to the high heavens, right? Hell no. Take this guy down.

Way too detailed to be made up.
It happens all the time. If anything, when people lie about rape or anything for that matter, they tend to make it too detailed, not the other way around. But besides all that, do you really think that this is the criteria we should be using to determine whether someone was telling the truth about a rape or not? If that's the criteria, then all anyone has to do is remember to keep their story detailed and they can get away with a false accusation and ruin someone's life.

This is a country where you are innocent until proven guilty. It's also a country where a conservative estimate of 1 out of every 10 rape accusations are false. It's also a country where rape happens regularly. This is why I have no opinion on whether he did this or not, and also why I called for stiffer penalties for both the rapists and the ones who falsely accuse of rape. I simply don't have enough evidence before me to decide whether this guy is guilty, and I don't think anyone does. But by law he is innocent until proven guilty.

People can have their opinions, but right now they seem to be based on one blog post and one person's account, and that's dangerous.

Go to the police. Not tumbler, not twitter, not facebook, the police. Judge, jury, testimonies, lawyers. There is a judicial system in this country use it...

The problem is, without much proof, the police and whatnot won't do squat. And sadly, most rapes end without any proof except for the victim recalling the tragic events. I guess social media is the last resort to make sure your story is told when law enforcement chooses not to listen.

Has she mentioned anywhere that she tried to go to the police first? Has she mentioned anything about them rejecting her story for said lack of proof?

So the police won't do anything, so instead she should post it on tumblr and have people just take her word for it and quite possibly ruin this guys life because you think it's "too detailed to be made up"?

I'm sorry, but you seem rather naive or ignorant when it comes to the kind of s**t people make up...it's not "too detailed to be made up", you have no grounds to believe it at all...and I suspect that the people who do believe, somehow WANT to believe it.

We live in a world where evidence is needed in a court of law in cases like these...not the whim of the public and certainly not the judgement of people on tumblr.

Devils Advocate:

The first sign that someone is lying about something is that they are too detailed in their description of events. This is because someone planning a lie believes that the key to belief is a convincing story.

As a result they plan what they are going to say, leading to an overly intricate story.

Someone telling the truth tends to be less detailed and more to the point.
