To achieve this kind of effect vlog

These examples of vlog is the kind of effects and quality of video I want to achieve. I'm really bad at explaining things so I thought if I gave an example it would show it better. I am willing to spend a lot of money on this as I am really passionate about doing this.

At some point I would like to put a video to my music I write so the kind of trendy black and white slow motion effects it must have.

Here are the examples

'5 kinds of drunk people' by danisnotonfire

(This is a fun quite simple effect good quality style)

And 'a day with joe' by helenmelonlady
(Which is a more romantic dreamy effect

Honey, you don't need to spend a lot of money to do this.
See, JennaMarbles became popular by doing vlogs on her laptop cam.

You just need to have a great personnality and have original idea.
And I think danisnotonfire still uses IMovies. Thats what he said in one of his vlogs. IMovies comes free with the mac...

Yea all you need for that kind of vlog is a decent ish camera and some good lighting ^^ (and audio, never forget audio)

Really? The quality of this kind of vlog looks really cool what camera would u say danisnotonfire uses?

And the other dreamy style video what software/camera do u think to achieve it?

I think Dan uses a DSLR , Im guessing a Canon 650D or something like that because this days most youtubers has this camera. But theyre quite expensive!

Me again haha. Ok I watched the "5 kinds of drunk people" video and can tell you this about their set up... my best guess anyways:
1) Tripod with fluid video head from the opening pan as well as the changing angles of shots in each clip.

2) A 50mm or equivalent prime, looks to be f1.8. Might be STM since it's autofocusing.

3) Studio lighting, at least one softbox from the direction of the shadows.

4) A shotgun mic.

As for software, most entry level video software can do what he achieved.[DOUBLEPOST=1371587061,1371587010][/DOUBLEPOST]

If I had to guess his camera is a Canon 600D.

The Dan one looks like a point and shoot. A black and white filter comes with most any editing software. A Day with Joe is a DSLR, playing with going in and out of focus, and a little bit of color correction. You don't need a specific camera / software for either, you need to know how to use your stuff. You can get good looking stuff out of a cell phone if you know how to use it / cameras in general...

(That's just the first example that came to mind, not a particular impressive one since they had bad weather (=light) and didn't even color correct that much... Plus they edited on iMovie.)
