The perfect video length

Hey, guys. I'm a let's player on youtube and I tend to record in sessions of about 2 hours for one game. I then try to cut those videos down to several 15-20 minute videos, but sometimes I just can't get the editing to fit around that time. So, what I'm asking is, what do you guys think the best video length for a new lets player is? 10 minutes? 15? Is it okay to make some 25+ minutes? Leave a comment below. I could really use your advice. Thanks!

I try to keep my videos around the 15-20 minute mark. People have a short attention span and unless you have a very dedicated fan base than most people will not watch 20-25+ minute videos.

It really depends on what you're filming :)
Currently I'm doing playthroughs of Metro: Last Light- Video's about 15-20 minutes, DMC- Videos about 15-20 minutes, and Dust: An Alysian Tail- 10-15 minutes. I'm trying to cut some of the videos from now on to a bit shorter, making metro about 10-15. I'm uploading the last of DMC tomorrow and that was just the last fight and it ended up being about 30 minutes xD I just feel like people stay longer for the shorter videos. At least thats what my analytics show xD

Let's Plays should be about 15. Anything longer can feel intimidating.

Usually, i dont watch videos that are longer than 3 minutes. If I do, then you're interesting, or you are reviewing something or it is a rant

Those are my thoughts too. I think I might start aiming for about 10-15 minutes long. Maybe I'll start just doing one playthrough at a time and upload 2 videos of that a day? I don't know. I'm conflicted because I like playing a lot of games xD[DOUBLEPOST=1370054435,1370054280][/DOUBLEPOST]

See, the thing is. Sometimes its just hard to match the action around that length. You have to weight the options of whether you want a 15 minute video, or if you want to cut a cutscene off in the middle. What do you recommend in the case?

Well if your making a lot of short videos then it will be a lot easier to upload more videos per day. And just set a schedule for yourself. Two games one day, another two the next day!

Thats a good idea. I might just cut it down to about 2 videos a day. Finish up the playthroughs I'm doing now and then just do one playthrough at a time. I think it'll make it a bit more enjoyable for me. xD

Well, if it is a cutscene, then finish it off!

Yeah, it's a lot easier this way. A lot less hassle of waiting for everything to process and upload.
