The future of YouTube is discouraging...

We dont make any money from our videos we just love the fact that we can make people laugh (or try to) and we made a handful of friends through our videos, Really youtube will eventually recover from this the big creators just need to stop doing stupid sh*t

If you're only in it for the money then that's your problem. You have to enjoy what you're doing or it's just another job.

Remember when there was no advertising on YT ? People did it for enjoyment and as a community service.

Nothing has really changed for most channels in that respect, but some people have tried to make it a job/income source, with everything that entails.

Income is a nice form of encouragement to try harder, but if it all stopped tomorrow I'm sure most channels would keep going.

Cheers Rob

I say good. Keep the pretenders away and let those who are in it to win it really earn it. It will feel much better when achieved.

I somewhat agree. I had to put in 2 years to get to the levels they are talking about. Now I far surpassed them. But my fear is that they will up the ante even further down the line. Say 10K subscribers and 25,000 hours. I hit the hour mark now, but 10K subscribers? Nope. I would be out of the game. And so... would you. And I have a gut feeling that is exactly what is going to happen.

I thought the same thing. That’s possible. If this ceiling plays out well maybe not. If all the pretenders just by views and subs and find work arounds I see it happening. Probably 5000 first but then 10 and 100k[DOUBLEPOST=1516199824,1516199099][/DOUBLEPOST]It just popped into my head but maybe this is to cut down on sister channels as well. Many big personalities that get into trouble have 2 or more channels going and once disgraced can just move to the other one. Like daddy o and daddy o games (sic??) 1000 subs would be easy but few could get the 4000 hours logged in a day or week. Though yeah, some could.

Ha, I'll take that bet.

I'd say this wouldn't be too big of a problem if YouTube didn't already have a discovery problem to begin with. It is literally IMPOSSIBLE to filter down content to least views, impressions, subs, etc. to find up and coming talent organically through a highly targeted search. You either have to know already, or SOMEHOW fall into it, or let the ALGO find it for you.

I made a little on YouTube, that was nice. But knowing that discovering my content is just that much harder is definitely concerning, especially if the system in place doesn't facilitate my chances properly.

your not alone i myself feel the same and even if i manage to get more subscribers and views on my video i feel like YouTube wont make it to 2020 if they decide to finally get their act straight

I can understand some points as to why people with smaller channels are upset. But I'm positive that you'd need way more then 4,000 hours (per 12 months) and 1,000 Subs in order to make a livable wage just from Youtube alone after the Adpocalypse.

Youtube should be for fun. To encourage, promote and inspire others. Were us smaller channels actually making anything to really be upset about? I'm not saying I am for the new rules but I do think some are blowing this way out of proportion. Since when was Youtube all about money and only money. Our favorite Youtubers whether big or small all do it because they love it. Not for the income. The income came much later.

But again that's just my opinion on it. =\

It's very discouraging since YouTube are most likely gonna focus on Big Youtubers to make money off and promote them more for me its a hobby bit still discouraging
